Sorry triple post, but I just read this on [i]autosport.com:

Are there any Spanish forum members? What is your view?

Well, yes, there is (al least) one.

I think this is a serious issue that should be dealt with according to the law ( and maybe Spanish law is not all the hard it should be in cases like this). I have been reading all sort of opinions, ranging from those who believe that we, the Spanish, are a crazy racist race which should just be banned out of sports to those who believe that racist behaviuor should be tolerated just beacuse it shows how angry some Spanish fans are with Hamilton because of all that happened last season.

What I think is that, as F1 wins more and more fans every year, it is a natural fenomenon that some of those new fans have to be brainless. It's just statistics, I guess. I don't think we should categorize a whole country according to the behaviour of some of them, a tiny few of them. (1)

It looks that some Spanish are racist, at least those who insulted LH seem racist to me and they should be punished and if it depended on me, those FEW brainless Spanish guys would be in jail now.

On the other hand, I think the demand that the Spanish GPs should be called off is just unfair. You can't cancel a GP just because of a bunch of racist morons. There are thousands of normal, educated people, Spanish and foreigners who enjoy watching races in Spain and they would be the main loosers.

(1) If E.T. returned to earth right now and read some F1 forums, he would never visit Spain, tha's for sure.

Yes maybe there is a particular problem in Spain I am not sure but, as you say MF there was a problem with the national football manager. I think that it is more to do with football than Spain.
Football seems to attract the dregs of society in so many ways.
I know that some of you 'forumers' are also football fans but, come on guys, you must see the difference in the quality of the people involved. I am not saying that all football fans / players are bad, but soo many are. I dont think that the black faces were F1 fans either - more like football fans on a day off!

I totally agree that, generally, the quality of Formula One fans is higher than some football fans. In my view, certain sections of the Spanish community are racist, and Formula One has a new audience in Spain due to the "Alonso effect". This is a great thing, but sadly it's brought some of the dregs of the society with it. Then, factor in the Hamilton-Alonso feud, which also gives the dregs the chance to cause trouble. The football analogy sums it well. Many teams, like the one I support, has its "hangers-on" who come out a few times a year for the big games with a view to causing trouble, masquerading as real supporters. 90% of the time, the trouble is caused by those kind of people.

Talk of taking the races away from Spain is ridiculous, what happened was disgusting but if someone is intent on doing something like that it's very difficult to stop them. They wouldn't have entered the circuit with their shirts on show and with blackened faces holding their banners up. What matters is how quickly and quietly security handled it, it's a shame that the media makes something of it and plasters pictures of these guys all over the world which is something these guys are probably proud of.

Taking action against the circuit would only serve to give the go ahead to like minded idiots who may have no interest in the sport whatsoever in other countries to cause trouble by doing the same elsewhere.

I'm not saying it should be swept under the carpet and everyone should pretend it never happened as it should never be allowed to happen again but unless it can be shown that there was some fault in the security that allowed it to happen I don't think any action should be taken against the circuit(s).

Hmm. I think it's very enough to say the the folk with their faces painted black etc. didn't get into the ground like that, but, regarding the security, nothing was done for at least two days. In fact, it took McLaren to complain about the jeering, racist abuse and things being chucked before anything was done. So, basically, the security knew this was going on (and, let's face it, we all did via the news) and nothing was done. Questions have to be answered about this because it looks like to me that the Spanish authorities didn't really mind what was going on until it became headline news.

Yes i agree with you there :)
it was stupid with how long it took for them to do somthing?
the overall remarks towards Hamiltons family was Dissgracefull and he didn't deserve that one bit :(
it has over shadowed the formula 1 pit's and has put a frown on our faces, but hamilton has took it on the Chin and is getting down with it, and is still trying to get the job done!
look on the Bright Side People ;)

Ah sorry, I didn't realise it had gone on like that. If that's the case then the circuit management has to be questioned and held responsible.

again:
Spanish authorities didn't really mind what was going on until it became headline news.

and that's after some of the Spanish media last year saying it is hypocritical of british fans to be supporting a black sportsman as we're a racist nation! If something like that happened at Silverstone it would've been dealt with immediately no matter who it was against, possibly even before any officials got anywhere near those involved.

Racism, in any content or form, is the downfall of humanity I just wish we did not have to deal with it in our beloved F1  .
