Salt all the way.

Salt will enhance the flavor of the Fries/Chips, and will not change the structure of the Fries/Chips. Vinegar will just make the Fries/Chips taste vinegary, and will make the Fries/Chips all soggy.

I don't use salt an awful lot in cooking but on certain foods salt is ACE. Things like chips, sweetcorn, mushrooms... I vote salt.

I used to put a bit of vinegar on my chips but these days I don't eat crap from take-aways. I makes me own and apply large amounts of tomato ketchup.

And yes this is much better than the cheese & onion thread. What sort of perverted freak doesn't like cheese & onion crips?!
