The speed's there. He just needs to tame the beast and he'd be getting some pretty good results. The Williams isn't all that bad (see they don't need yon old fella, whatshisname).

One of the things I've noticed is some folks that came down on Hamilton last year, don't use the same yardstick when measuring Maldonado even though he considerably worse at the offenses Lewis was committing last year.

It's puzzling, but understandable I guess due to their tenure?

Becoming a race winner seems to have enlarged his head. It was after that point that he started pushing his weight around, slicing Perez being a good example. It's like" You peons get out of my way!"
He wants a title? Yeah, they all would love a title. But Maldo will never place higher than 6th in the standings. If he happens to get in the best car that a monkey could win in, then he will be the #2 driver and he might luck out and get 2nd in the WDC. This is the most I predict for him. Furthermore, I don't think he will spend more than another couple years in F1.

Er...? Maldonado appears to be our collective favourite joke on here, everyone is slating the crap out of him now, it seems.

it was a thought out loud. But when you peel back the layers there are similarities so I'd expect similar though processes, and it's not everyone bashing him, just the overwhelming majority. I've never seen this forum be in such agreement about anything before. yet there are examples of people's perception between the two be different, even though there are the similarities in style I point out. You don't have to peel back too many layers.

T'was Jenson Button not too long ago. I wonder who the next victim will be?:twisted:

Different reasons or slating methinks.

Pastor Maldonado is confident of making up for the points he has missed out on during the first half of the Formula 1 season after the August break.

The Williams driver has not scored a point since his victory in the Spanish Grand Prix in May. He has only banked four points, for eighth place in China, on top of the 25 he claimed for that win despite several outstanding qualifying performances.

He vowed to convert his prodigious pace into more top 10 finishes in the second half of the year.

"There are still nine races to go, which is quite a lot, so we have time to recover," the Venezuelan told AUTOSPORT. "I will do my best in the second half of the season to recover the loss and will never back off.

"We need more points and we need to improve and learn from the mistakes. Every time I go on track, I try to learn and constantly improve. That is my approach.

"For [various] reasons, we didn't get any points after Barcelona. But this is racing. Qualifying has been good."

Maldonado has been the subject of criticism this season. He has been punished by race stewards three times in the last four races for clashes with Lewis Hamilton (Valencia), Sergio Perez (Silverstone) and Paul di Resta (Hungaroring) but insists that he isn't being distracted by such comments.

He emphasises that he has not let his focus waver in the face of criticism, or after the praise that he deservedly received after his win in Spain.

"I was not looking for [good] comments from people on that," he said of how that win changed the way he was perceived. I had full focus on my job trying to push the team forward.

"When you do well, you have everyone on your back in a good way and when you do badly you have everyone on your back in a bad way."
