The influential Italian paper Gazzetta dello Sport has done a mid-season rating of each of the F1 drivers, with Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso coming out on top, just ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen.

Jenson is rated the same as Karthekeyan. I think thats a bit unfair as Kartekeyans car is the worst on the grid and maybe he could do better in a McLaren

From now on, I'm just going to copy Jenson in wet-dry races. He seems to have a sixth sense about the direction in which the conditions are heading.

That's one of the things that wound me up about Jenson. He was so laid back and unflappable. Whenever I out-qualified him, or beat him in a race, he didn't seem to mind, and that frustrated me! That was one of his biggest strengths.

looks like the writer might have the last laugh afterall. Apart from his WC in a car that was seconds faster than the rest, doesnt seem Jenson has changed much. He is still good with the media though

Gotta let the points do the talking. Rating webber as a 7? He's been arguably the most consistent driver this year next to alonso, apart from the 11th place in catalunya. Putting him on the same rating as rosberg who has been nowhere in the last 3 or 4 races and grosjean who has had his fair share of collisions this year (who's at fault is not what I'm arguing) is ridiculous. And I'd at least put perez equal to maldonado. He's put that sauber in some surprising positions just like maldonado has, and without as many wrecks, and almost won malaysia.

Lol how the hell does Raikkonen deserve an 8? He's been outqualified by Grosjean most of the time, and has come alive in the last few races only (apart from Bahrain) does that merit 3rd best consistency?

Alonso a 10...well, seeing as how well he markets his horrible Ferrari while taking advantage of wet weather conditions (which the Ferrari is definitely not crap in) I guess it's easy to rate him Mr Perfect...though I'd personally give him a 9 at most.

Hamilton an 8.5 is probably fair enough...afterall the puncture in Hockenheim and the Maldododo crash in Valencia were his doing. Ok, I'd rate Lewis on par with Alonso, both guys have driven outstanding this year.

Button a 5? I think he'd deserve a 2.5...2 points for the win in Melbourne and 0.5 for dedication in turning up for race weekends and putting on the racing overalls.

Massa deserves a 0.5...for taking precious time of to bother turning up at races and driving around.

McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh could scarcely find enough words with which to lavish praise on 2012 F1 Belgian Grand Prix winner Jenson Button, after he led from start to finish to claim his second win of the year.

"Jenson performed quite majestically all weekend," said Whitmarsh as the team celebrated Button's victory. "In so doing, he made it look easy. But when a driver manages a race win from pole position, leading all the way, the excellence of his performance isn't always as obvious as when he wins it by attacking from behind.

"Jenson has been super-quick all weekend, and he controlled the race with total authority, managing tyre wear masterfully all the way," added Whitmarsh. "It wasn't easy, even if it looked that way, and I'm extremely proud of him, as is everyone at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes."

I heard it. Coulthard was gushing similarly.I was screaming at the television each time one of them started. WHAT ABOUT THE WING!!! YOU FORGOT TO MENTION HE HAD THE FAST WING!!!
What a short memory Whitmarsh has. Well im glad he's pleased with his golden boy , he wont have to ask him to help Hamilton now, the thought of that must have been keeping him awake at nights.
Fortunately Lewis managed to tweet the two telemetries so everyone knows Jenson had a second a lap over lewis so he damn well should have made it look easy.
