Im not trying to be controversial here, just to get a reaction, but I really am not fussed about Spa.

I know the following is meant to be one of the best sections of circuit on the calendar:

But I can take it or leave it.

I dont think its a bad or boring circuit. I just feel indifferent to it.

:hiding:

Oooh, sacrilege! :yikes::twisted::hehe:

Not getting excited by Spa should be a banning offence!

It's the best track on the F1 calander and one of the best track worldwide.

It's :censored: awesome!

Why? This is what confuses me. People bang on about how great it is, but never give reasons why....?

Actually they do give reasons.

It's the unique challenge that the track presents to drivers. It's the closest thing left on the F1 calander to an old style strack. It's possible to overtake without gimmicks. It's a proper test to the drivers and the cars. But best if all, it's :censored: awesome!

Love the circuit, nothing could replace it.

Best moment:

But did the circuit attribute to that? Surely you could get that on a number of circuits....?

No, just something that comes to mind when I think of it, along with the 1998 start, Kimi qualifying through the smoke and the 2008 nonsense.

A fantastic circuit to race on in the games and must be immense in reality and great to watch the racing on.

I agree with you there, I do like driving it on the Codemasters F1 games

LRW, I find Spa to be amongst my very top circuits on the calendar, without a doubt, but to be honest, I actually prefer Monza.

Don't know...I find Monza to be a bunch of straights connected by slow uninspiring chicanes, except the Tamburello. Rest of it is pedal down and go....skill isn't much of a factor here.

Eau Rouge always was a spectacular corner, the elevations along with sweeping fast curves always made it a challenge. Back in 99 it's reputation really got a boost. The then cars nearly had enough grip to take Eau Rouge without lifting. Jaques V and his teammate Zonta had a bet at practice as to who could do just that. Both failed and crashed spectacularly - it was the second year in a row that JV crashed there.

Subsequently drivers took the challenge and succeeded and now, it isn't uncommon to take Eau Rouge without lifting - given the right weather/car/tire combination.

IMO it's a great corner, but I prefer Aqua Minerali at Imola :)

+1 :) That and the Degners are excellent (very similar corner combinations incidentally).

Pouhon is the best corner at Spa these days.
