It's too complicated!So I had been trying to avoid using it as much as possible,the only thing I knew was putting music there and so in my iPhone.But the other day 175 songs of my 195 songs in the iPhone got deleted without me doing anything.Then I connected the iPhone to PC and checked it on iTunes.All of the 195 songs showed up though when I open the music library(in phone),I can only see 20 of them.By the way those 20 songs are the ones that recently and more oftenly played.I asked for a solution and they were talking about managing music and syncing the songs.But when I tried it said it could make iTunes forget the device.Did this happen to anyone else?What should I do?

Sorry I can't help there, I got my dad a USB turntable to put his vinyl onto mp3 on a windows pc. It wasn't made by apple but it turned out it needed itunes installed before you could use it and made everything needlessly complicated.

Sounds like your IPod is set to only sync with one of your "specific" library settings like new or recently played or 90's ect. You have to fiddle around with your sync and have it sync all music.

Anyway WB is right...your settings are causing misery, try and unclick the 'sync without asking' and check the other 1001 options which it gives you there. It's a pain, but it's Apple. I stuck to just an ipod from that company.

I'm traveling and don't have iTunes installed but I can write a quickie guide for you on how to check what groups your iPod is set to sync when I'm back home.

I just bought the new iPod nano today...that little square thing which looks like a watch. So my new headaches are going to begin.

okay home today so taking a few minutes to do this....

open iTunes > plug in your iPod > let iTunes find your iPod until it shows up in the "DEVICES" list. (Wait a few minutes in case it's synchronizing on its own as it tends to make things a bit lethargic)

Click on your device under the DEVICES section and iTunes will display a "Summary" page listing your device details. > On the top of that page you'll see various buttons "Summary" 'Info" "Apps" "Music" etc. > click on the "Music" button and it will bring up a section labeled "Sync Music"

In that section near the top you'll see two radio buttons (the ones that look like circles you click on). One is labeled "Entire Music Library" The other is labeled "Selected Playlists, Artists, Albums, and Genres"

More than likely this is where you issue is. That it's not set to synchronize your entire music library. Two reasons for that are; one, that somehow you set this up accidentally or through some type of app. Or two that your iPod is near capacity because you're also synchronizing videos, apps pictures, etc and it needed to make space so iTunes will stop synchronizing things you don't use regularly. It's probably not a coincidence that you mentioned that the songs you played most often are the ones that stayed on your iPod.

I did this.But syncing music was unchecked and when I checked it,it said if you sync the iPhone the tracks in it will get deleted and replaced with the ones in iTunes.I said OK,and then it started the process.But when it was finished,all the tracks in iPhone and iTunes were gone. It did some sort of backing up though,it was writing in process.Then I tried to connect my sister's iPod to PC and opened iTunes,it showed the only the device,not musics section under it.My plan was getting the tracks in it in a folder,then copying them in mine.Maybe those backed up tracks are somewhere else?
