Lotus had the biggest points haul of the day and they're doing more for their WCC bid than McLaren!

Huh? Lotus got 33 pts today, so did McLaren, thus, stalemate for the two teams.

I liked Whitmarsh's post race interview today.

Martin Whitmarsh, team principal
"Lewis drove with tremendous composure all afternoon, and the result was a meticulously judged victory, wrought under intense pressure throughout. He made a superb start from pole position, then controlled the race with masterful authority, all the while balancing the necessity to execute rapid laps against the equally pressing requirement to conserve his tyres. The 25 points he annexed today have taken his season-so-far total to 117. Although he's still a little way behind the Drivers' World Championship leader, he's now very well placed to mount an assault on the Drivers' World Championship crown over the remaining nine races of the season. Believe me, it's still all up for grabs.

"Jenson had a frustrating race but nonetheless managed to score a useful eight points as a result of finishing in sixth place. Like Lewis, he'll come back from the mid-season break ready to attack the second half of the season with energy and enthusiasm. And, again, also like Lewis, he'll be aiming to score plenty of points, at Spa-Francorchamps and Interlagos and everywhere in between. Yesterday Lewis scored the 150th pole position in McLaren's history - and today he notched up our 178th Grand Prix victory. It was his 101st Grand Prix - and it's difficult to imagine a better way for him to have begun his second century of Grand Prix appearances, isn't it?

First time this season he held off putting Button and 'Championship' in the same sentence...maybe he's finally realized if it's very difficult for Lewis to win it, it's already impossible for NoGrip this season. Whitmarsh finally gets realistic.

Oh yes, I remember when the old boy made his debut back in the Spring of 1912..... :P

Huh? It is indeed his 101st GP. I don't see anything wrong there.

Vettel showing his true colours... "I'm faster than him, do something....do something!" Erm.......is Vettel not the driver then? It beggars belief!!

:yes::yes: Even the announcers couldn't believe a world champion could mention such rubbish!

What more could they do? Lay a stinger in front of Jenson.

Sounds of desperation from Vettel and the restrictions on the Red Bull car seem to be showing.

Good win for Lewis but I have to say Hungary is a terrible track for entertainment.

It was totally down to the pit stops and tyre management of the teams today....yawn.

Congratulations Lewis!
Significant that he did two stops from pole and won whilst Jenson did three stops and dropped from fourth on the grid to sixth having overtaken Vettel on lap one to make a solid third.
Jenson in his interview clearly attributed this to having been brought in early for his second stop.
He was totally correct. Whoever took the decision to bring him in made a mistake and Jenson should replace him (or them) in his team, because it is happening too often.
F1 racing is essentially a game where there are rules and resources, including fuel and tyres, and competitors. Each competitor can use his resources to do fast laps if he has clear space ahead but on a track like Hungaroring, where overtaking seems almost impossible, this is a rare opportunity.
Let us examine Jenson's second stint. He was on the medium longer lasting tyre whereas Vettel was an the faster less durable soft tyre. Vettel was clearly getting frustrated by his inability to pass Jenson so why would anyone decide to bring Jenson in first? A totally wrong decision! Vettel could not overtake and his tyres would have lost grip before Jenson's and he would have been forced to pit first. When he came out he would probably have come out in traffic whereas Jenson could then, with clear air, have used up fuel and what was left of that set of tyres to blitz a few laps and create a significant gap to Vettel.
Simples as my favouirite advertisement character says.
Bringing Jenson in then brought him out after Senna, holding Jenson up whilst Vettel romped off into the distance.
By the third stop, which from Lewis's experience might not have been necessary if the second had been delayed, Jenson was doomed to come out behind Alonso, to finish a very disappoining sixth.
I would be very interested if the Maclaren tactician who decide to bring Jenson in for his second stop would attempt to justify his decision.

Strategy isn't always McLaren's strong point. Ocassionally they play a blinder but more often than not they get it wrong. They wrecked lots of Lewis' races with poor strategy(amongst other things). This time it was Jenson. I heard a radio mesaage to Lewis saying we're going to plan B.
NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I screamed. I think they heard me because they kept lewis on a two stopper. Phew!!

Yes. The tacticians were very uncertain about their decisions.
Plan B was clearly the 3 stop strategy which totally ruined Jenson's race.
