That was an excellent race by Alonso, and if he keeps on racing like this, he's going to be the most deserving WDC for a long time.

There was a deserving champion last year and the year before.

Please note the word "most".

There was a most deserving champion last year and the year before.

I don't think that even makes sense, as there is only one champion per year.

There are few champions who have been able to win without having the best car. Today Alonso was in the third best car, and still won. Some championships (in different years, or there's nothing to compare) are more deserving than others. And if this season continued for the second half exactly as it did in the first, then I would say that Alonso would have contributed more to winning the championship than Sebastian has, or any driver has for quite some time.

20 seconds sounds fair but then again it cost him more places than I might consider proportionate. I was guessing he would be given a position swap with Jenson. Oh well.

Vettel got a 20 second penalty because he didn't yield the place; just the same as Button got a drive-through for passing Massa off the track and not yielding the position in Australia 2011.

At last, the stewards got it right, just desserts in the end.

You lot don't arf bicker!!

I do think it's a bit unfair on Seb. in one way. Several drivers have passed with all four wheels of the track and gotten away with it. Seb's penalty is the right one IMHO, but at the time he made the pass, what does he then do? If he'd known what was going to happen then he'd have given the plac back and tried to pass again. But given that the last few such passes went unpunished, you can understand why he didn't.

Hopefully from now on we'll have some consistency.

It does.

I hope for your sake that you are trolling.

How am I trolling? Because I think that Vettel was the most deserving in 2010 & 2011?! It's called a difference of opinion.

My bad for supporting someone. All hail Lord Nando! King of the chicken takeaways! (ok, now I'm trolling).

I have to say that Vettle was a bit slimy with his "denial" he'd done anything wrong. On top of that, he lied to the fans while on the podium saying Jenson hadn't said anything to him about it.

It's frustrating not having a dominant car...

Congratulations to Alonso, he deserved the win today and the way he's been driving he's looking pretty damn deserving of a third WDC unless Lewis can miraculously wrestle it from him.

My bad. Incidently, well done on the lightening quick hat change. Must have been the McLaren pitcrew that did it!

Anyway, to the race - it were nowt special.

An exciting start then not very much. Kind of fizzled out. Chuffed to see Raikonnen on the podium. Bloody annoyed that it came from Vettel getting a harsh penalty. Funny how Button and Hamilton seems to have almost swapped places for this race. That's the way it goes I guess.
