Alonso looks good for the championship this year, he controlled that race perfectly.

Vetted vs Button has to be a penalty for Seb - he passed off the road when Button left him space, only question is whether it is a reversal of places or a time penalty. IMO it should be a time penalty, if they just reverse it,Vettel doesnt get much. I'd go for a 15 sec penalty for Seb

Stewards decision: Hamilton gets a 5 grid place penalty in Hungary for disturbing the leaders...and stripped off the 2012 WDC because of Vettel overtaking off the track.

There's a big difference between this and the incidents wha few races ago. In that race, the question mark was over the move to defend which effectively forced the car off track off the track. That's not the case here, it was a very clear situation where Vettel had to fall back in behind Button, but made an active decision to keep his foot in and go off the track. Completely different.

How so? Is the off track better than the race track? You could say that the off track usage would give an advantage and it's not, but I'm quite happy that both Vettel and Button finished the race, and happy that Vettel or Button didn't do anything stupid trying to play "by the rules" when doing that pass. As I've said there's a precedent set already (also keep in mind Vettel was faster than Button, thx god it wasn't as the Maldonado vs Hamilton incident in the previous GP)

Great drive from Alonso; seems to have had the race under control against Button. Vettel should definitely should be penalised; he made a pass by going almost a car width off the track and gained more traction byreducing the angle of the turn, it was a deliberate action, Button didn't push Vettel off the track. Great drives from Kobayashi and Perez to finish 5th and 6th, good drive from Nico Rosberg to finish in the points after starting near the back of the field.

Interesting discussion point.

Should there have been a safety car for the debris scattered around Turn 1 early on in the race? Damon Hill and Johnny Herbert say there should have been, considering how much there was, and that the safety car has been deployed for much less in the past?

Interesting.

Pretty meh race, it all fizzled out a bit really.

Amusing argument going on right now on Sky between Horner against Hill and Herbert (two former driver stewards) about the Vettel incident, and Hamilton's unlapping of himself past Vettel. :hehe:

He's really annoyed me in that interview actually. So clearly from his perspective, the letter of the law is what's fair when it suits him, but the spirit of the rules are also what's important.... when it suits him.

I'm sorry Christian - you can't have it both ways! Choose one or the other then accept it! Very stupid for him to answer in the terms he did given the pre-race discussion.

The Horner - Vettel - Marko group is becoming across as one of F1's most odious cliques. They seemingly do everything to make themselves come across as terribly bad losers.
