The cars these days seem more susceptible to aquaplaning. Plus they are fast than back in the day so the dangers are naturally higher.

These Pirelli tyres are next to useless in the wet; the old Bridgestone and Michelin tyres were brilliant, they even had monsoon tyres which could cope with just about anything!

I see many here are having a go at Alonso for the comment during Q2. So what was said and why...

* Alonso was P4 or thereabout. Most likely safe for Q3.
* He was on intermediates.
* It started to rain heavier.
* No cars managed to improve their times on the intermediates.
* Cars started pitting, to change to full wet.
* Even cars with full wets, could not improve their times set on intermediate (see Massa and Rosberg).

Alonso then said it was getting dangerous out there ON THE INTERMEDIATES, and since his time was good enough it was time to pit. Yes I know many of the guys and gals in here are british, and therefore must hate Alonso. But come on, this is just ridiculous. Even saw someone referring back to Silverstone, but forgot to mention that also Hamilton complained on the conditions. We also only hear a small fraction of the radio messages, and im sure other drivers commented on the conditions. But I guess its like in football, you criticize the oppositions best players (like Ronaldo, Rooney, Gerrard and so on)

It's a great result. But if the race is dry, as Alonso said, other cars could be a threat. Definitely a time for not counting chickens before they are hatched or there's a risk of ending up with egg on face.

If I'm reading it right, Bauer is saying that the Bulls have the throttle too open for the given torque levels and thereby using them to blow the exhaust for aero advantage.
