The Forbes top 50 is dominated by a few soccer teams and all the NFL (American Football). A few baseball teams and towards the end some basketball.

Ferrari and McLaren are the only F1 teams to make it. Ferrari at 15th and McLaren 40th.

The Ferrari Formula One team has only just scraped into the top 15 in a list of the world's most valuable sports teams.

Forbes magazine said English football club Manchester United tops the list with an estimated worth of $2.23 billion, ahead of Real Madrid and then a roll call of American football teams.

The Dallas Cowboys is worth $1.85 billion, tied for third with the New York Yankees baseball team.

Formula 1 has only two teams in the top 50, the fabled Italian squad Ferrari ranked fifteenth with an estimated value just over $1 billion.

That is 3 percent higher than last year, while McLaren's estimated value dropped 2 percent to $800 million, with Forbes saying, Vodafone, the teams' title sponsor, is reviewing the sponsorship deal.

"McLaren would be hard pressed to replace Vodafone at comparable levels," said Forbes.

"McLaren also faces the free agency of Lewis Hamilton, who is one of the most marketable drivers in the sport," the report added.

McLaren would do well to remember that when they talk of cutting his salary and pissing about with him!!

Interesting reading. Only two F1 teams.

The worth of a team has everything to do with the earning potential of the "brand" more than it does with the actual earning potential of the team.

It's easy to see why the worth of the top teams on the list are to do with their legacy more than their current performance. I think one of the things that Red Bull has is that the "brand" has the built in value, not the actual team itself. Unlike Ferrari and McLaren that the team IS the brand.

I was in a doctor's waiting office and happened to spot a Red Bulletin magazine... I'd never heard about it or seen it but I instantly knew what it was. There was one page in the magazine promoting F1, the rest of the magazine was all about extreme sports.

Yep, there were occasional copies of the Red Bulletin put in the newspaper rack at my old drama school, and I occasionally took a peek. Meh. I doubt even fans of the team would find it a thrilling read.

I saw a Red Bulletin in the news stands at the airport with Travis Pastrano on the cover of it. I thought really...

From a marketing standpoint, that's where the target audience is!

How much does Red Bull go for?

$3.78. Sometimes you can get 2 for $5.

Freakin overpriced can of rubbish...might as well take a glass of water and add 10 tablespoons of sugar and a tablespoon of coffee, same effects for the body anyhow.

I think I'd go with the water/sugar/coffee over the can, at least you know that's all that's in it. I mean how much 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid do you want to be consuming? :hehe:

Now now, no need to get the Perry Mason outfit on. BTW there's arsenic in rice and chicken, so can we add that to a can of Red Bull also? Wasn't Taurine banned in Europe for a while because it is still linked to psoriasis?
