Grosean getting stuck in the gravel made me think of something, in Spain when Hamilton completed his qualifying lap without enough fuel to make it back to the pits with enough left over for the sample what would have happened if he'd driven into a gravel trap and beached it instead of stopping on the track?

well he would have to make it look convincing, probably quite difficult in the dry on an in lap.

He's pretty good at that though - the making it look convincing bit :P

I don't think Schumacher ever drove into the back of a bright red stationary car in the pitane. :hehe:

he has had a few 'spins' in quali though. What hamilton did in Canada takes a special kind of talent.

It was a bit odd indeed.

Not trying to make excuses, his fault and pretty stupid but thought at the time he could've been distracted by the 2 cars going down the pitlane next to each other and not paying attention to the lights.

It was his second year in F1 and the whole business of traffic lights was recent and he hadnt been briefed properly. These situations are sometimes referred to as 'rookie mistakes' or chalked down to inexperience.

Some drivers ofcourse continue to make such mistakes well into their careers, like Button stopping at the wrong pit, Alonso spinning out in the rain or crashing his car in FP3, Coulthard crashing on formation lap,

The insurance claim form would have made an interesting read. :hehe:

'I was sitting stationary at the lights when the Ferrari in front rolled back and hit me writing both cars off.'
