There's no doubting that Glock's spin and the subsequent yellow flag knackered Jenson's chances today...

1.5 seconds lost.

Nah, that was a spin AFTER the finish line...Button just messed up somewhere even after having a 1.7s advantage. Of course, great excuse for the media to talk about.

The yellow flags were being shown prior to the last corner though.

Glock spun coming out of the final corner and came to a stop on the grid didn't he? I don't think he reached the start/finish line but the final corner was certainly in the yellow flag zone.

Yes. He was going to be fine up until that yellow flag zone. 1.5 seconds better off.

So Button was just unlucky, he had improved by 1.7 seconds and was on course to get it all together and put the car near the front. Apart from that he was happy with everything and can go for the podium tomorrow as he save 2 sets of tyres

It wasn't due to the yellow... there was massive amount of water in sector three, even without the yellow it would have been difficult by Jason's own estimate.

McLaren struggled massively on inters today.

So you think he slowed the car by more than 1.5 seconds because of the yellow flag? Come on Lew, that's just being really naive.

Button himself said that although up 1.7 on the lap he was unable to do a fast final sector because of newly wet conditions and the yellow flag. In that order. Even Jenson wouldnt blame the yellow flag as he knows the team have telemetry to show that it wasnt just a minimum 'rule compliant' lift

At least he starts ahead of Kovis Caterham, or it might be a long long race for Jenson

Going entirely by his form with gaining places in the last 5 races, Button will need about 6 dnfs in front of him to get any points. To get on the podium, his stated target, he will need the entire field bar2 to dnf.

Maybe he should start in the pit lane, using his massive intelligence to trump the field with a genius setup, but then if it didnt work he would come last so maybe too big a gamble

Deteriorating conditions cost Jenson a time that would have put him near the top of the timesheets; but the yellow flag and lift off the accelerator probably cost him a place in Q2!

And Lewis wasn't that far ahead; he was only four places higher than Jenson, I think the McLaren struggled in those conditions... it's not just Jenson being super-slow!

Thanks :(

I was just pointing out that 1.5 seconds had been gained after the first two sectors, a chunk of useful time which mysteriously disappeared somewhere in the 3rd sector. The yellow flag was probably a contributing factor, like MOA suggests.

It wasn't a contributing factor for Alonso. :hehe:

Was anyone else a little miffed at Jenson's lack of 'team play' in the race when Lewis came up behind him on fresh tyres while Jenson was still on old? There was no way he was fighting Lewis in that race but he made it exceedingly difficult for Lewis to get by and then let Grosjean breeze past  Jens...go fight the other teams cars with the same intent you fight Lewis when you get the chance!!
This is not me saying Jens has to move over for Lewis by the way. If the situation was reversed and Jenson was coming up fast on fresh tyres Id expect Hamilton to do the same.

We all know that Jensons only ambition is to be compared favourably to his teammate. He has to be seen to be competitive around Lewis. Even when getting lapped Im sure he wont make it easy.
Just as well blue flags were introduced

Yeah I saw that, it was the hardest he fought with anyone...the rest he simply let past. I'm not surprised anyway, this isn't the first time he proved to be a total d*ck.
