His win in Canada 2011 was pretty special, fell to the back of the grid and then overtook the entire field.

A historic win, and one of F1's most remarkable races.

Really? I cant understand why this race is held it such high regard. It was a good win yes, but after taking out two of his top competitors. And then having loads of saferty cars to catch up.
Bit biased? After that move on Lewis, probably yes.

Same here...two competitors who were faster than Button KO'ed, and then multiple safety cars with everyone else in slower cars, and Vettel who never really flourishes in the wet.

That win was still nothing compared to ones such as Kimi at Suzuka 2005 for example. THAT was an example of pure pace.

Epic win it was!

Wasn't Lewis's Monaco win epic too?

It wasn't one of his best. Safety car timing helped him out big time there.

You won't find any of my posts barking about Lewis' Monaco win though. So yes, incredibly convenient. :D

Safety cars + DRS + having the best car + wasting two better drivers = fortuitous win + gushing team principal + deluded fans

DRS was surely disabled for a fair proportion of the race?

Anyway, the safety car doesn't make the passes for him, and there are 24 cars on the grid, not three.

He set his car up for a wet race, made a brave tyre call (I can't remember it too well) and was immensely quick for the second part of the race.

I'm not claiming he'll do great in Sliverstone or is a great F1 driver, I just thought credit was due for his performance in Canada, I really enjoyed watching him in that race, especially as we were held in the grip of Vettel dominance.

Well, you think credit is due while some others think he won based on the fact that he knocked out his teammate, and Fernando, and nobody else were really capable of challenging him since the McLaren was the second fastest car after the Redbull then...and Sebastian was having trouble since he wasn't on a wet setup. So credit to Button for picking a wet setup and crashing out 2 competitors to help him to victory then.
