Talking of safety cars, an interesting discussion point is the new rules, by which the cars at the "back" can unlap themselves. Now, this is something that I've always endorsed, having grown tired of seeing front cars having to pass the lapped cars, thus ruining the fight for position amongst the front runners, and duly allowing the car in P1 to make a good escape.

However, as we saw, this also comes with drawbacks. The safety car has to stay out an extra couple of laps to accommodate this shuffling around.

Thoughts?

Another bad idea. Keep the milkfloats/moving chicanes where they in the running order and get the safety car in quicker.

Just found this:
The President of the German motor sport association DMSB, Hans-Joachim Stuck has sent a warning to Red Bull after Sebastian Vettel and Dr. Helmut Marko commented that the safety car was used to stop the German driver from dominating the European Grand Prix in Valencia.

The safety car was deployed when Vettel comfortably lead the race
Vettel was leading the race by over 20 seconds, when debris from an accident between Vergne and Kovalainen caused the safety car to be deployed. The German believed the decision was made not just to clear debris but also to “break our neck.”

Red Bull Racing adviser Dr. Helmut Marko agreed with Vettel’s theory.

"Vettel was too far ahead and so the field was brought back together," the Austrian told German television. "Just as they do in American racing."

However Stuck has warned both that accusing the FIA of such behaviour could be seen as “unsportsmanlike conduct.”

“Sebastian Vettel should learn to be a good loser,” Stuck told German Eurosport. “It was clear there was debris on the circuit, representing a danger of puncture to the other cars. For that reason, the safety car was justified.”

Agree with this. It improves the spectacle, and been around since the start. Part and parcel of what the lead driver must learn to handle, after all, it's the same for everyone. If a SC comes and the goes and the lead driver still wins the race, it just makes the win all the more worthy.

Canada 07 springs to mind :D

Stuck's got this one right. Although, if Helmut Marko thinks the SC isn't necessary then I suggest the next race there is debris in the middle of the track he's the one to run out and pick up every piece.

Its a poor excuse. They knew the car was in trouble before the safety car came out.

Come on guys this is seb just turning into the next schumacher moan about things that go against you iv been watching the season reviews on sky and i used to think he was a good lad but no he moans about everything. Watch and you will see in this modern day it would be immpossible to fix a gp to suit for a particular person to win i.e alonso in spain especially after what happend in singapore a few years ago. It was a bit of metal in the track off hekki's wheel an aload of rubber left around the track buy a certain torro rosso driver and we all no what happens if a piece of metal hits a driver nearly killed Massa a few year ago didn't it so to me its just Seb being bitter but we all have our own opinions some being valid some not this is mine.

Fine - I will just not read your posts because they're almost unreadable if they're all one paragraph without punctuation.
:director: And you'd better watch your mouth yourself!
