Fixed eh? Like rainy Monaco in the 80s prost/senna fixed?

I dunno, seems a bit far fetched. I suppose everything can be corrupted, it is just a long list of people who have to be bribed/blackmailed/swindled before you even get to charlie.

More like something else needs to be fixed, say Vettel's head.

I think he's a 24 year old millionare, who has steamrolled his way into two championships. Me thinks, a bit of false entitlement is getting in the way. :hehe:

It's not Vettle's fault, whenever a med like country beats Germany they claim it was fixed, the German football team have already complained that the Italy v Germany Euro cup match last night was fixed.

German mentality.

And what do you expect from Latin people? They are an emotional lot, I'm sure the marshals at Monza are just as biased towards Ferrari.

I am sure they are. Doesn't make it right. A stewards job should be Safety First, national pride second.

Sorry I'm jumping in at the end here, but are you suggesting safety was compromised because the stewards were cheering for alonso?

Anyway, in regards to the OP, I don't think there's any evidence to suggest a fix. s*** happens. But I will echo what I have in the past, and that is the Safety car protocol should be reevaluated. The fact that huge leads throughout the field are neutralized just because a couple backmarkers crashed is nonsense. I don't see any reason why they can't improve on it to make the restart more fair, even if it can't be 100% fair.

Yes.

I actually have read the whole thread. No one has addressed how the stewards' rooting for Alonso diminished safety, which is why I asked.

edit: sorry, I've been meaning to say "marshalls" this whole time, not "stewards". Maybe that's part of the confusion.

Pace/safety car comes out in any series and the field is even again, with the exception of lapped cars. It's worse in oval series; green flag pitstops put the driver a lap down, now if the race stays green the field cycles through and its no big deal. Caution comes out right after the stop and that driver just got :censored: bad. No need to change how the SC works, it's just part of racing.

Agree with this. It improves the spectacle, and been around since the start. Part and parcel of what the lead driver must learn to handle, after all, it's the same for everyone. If a SC comes and the goes and the lead driver still wins the race, it just makes the win all the more worthy.

When both Grosjean and Vettel broke down, it took ages for the cars to be removed. This was because each time, it was a positive for Alonso, and the Stewards were too busy celebrating - thats how it seemed to me. Grosjean was signalling at the marshalls / stewards to come help push the car off the track, and no-one came. All too busy doing cartwheels, as their mega eyebrowed legend was going to win*.

*obviously they were not doing actual cartwheels. They are all too old and middle aged for that. It was more of a Dad dance. You know, the two feet stuck to the floor, shaking the hips in a very unsexy way, sort of dance.
