Underlined why the majority consider him to be the outright best on the grid today. Really excellent drive, regardless of the fact that he won.

If i supported based purely on the things that drivers do on track, he's my favourite.

And yet he's got the shortest support thread of the big three. go figure.

EDIT: I just realized that the Lewis support thread would be same same lenght as Alonso's if you removed all of Andrew's comments from it. :hehe:

Oy,

To the issue of thread length, Alonso hasn't been naughty for a while so there ain't much to discuss.

Well Im mighty impressed with Alonso and enjoy watching him drive. He does seem a nicer guy these days, maybe because he is considered such a king pin in his team and has number one status, but whatever, its a pleasant change from the old Alonso. Most complete driver? Not in my opinion but definately a close second.

Maybe the switch of his XX-companions has something to do with his being nicer...

Everyone is actually being pretty nice this yr. Its prob the tires, too busy solving the puzzle and nobody has enough room to be arrogant or pedantic, cause you never know when the wheels are gonna embarass you i guess hehe

Except Maldonado... But he's ok; nothing out of the ordinary, and he has certainly not done anything that hasnt been done before.

On a more relevant note: avanti Fer !!
Hehe 1st double winner :o solid driving.

Some were saying the first to 2 would be favourite, but to be honest...... It still can go any way. Good job by Fernando though. Still, vettel and hamilton are in darn solid form.

All credit to Alonso, but maybe it is always easier to perform in a car which is publicly known as far from the best, and a teammate who is sub par?

Since his McLaren days, he has been in cars which are lousy (except for 2011) compared to the WDC winning car...and we've seen him going about his driving quietly. No doubt he's a stellar driver, but again he's on the verge of being hyped up. He's makes it a point to remind everyone how the Ferrari is incompetent (well I don't think its that bad since Barcelona!) and does great in races - fantastic PR for his reputation! :hehe:

His consistency is the key, he doesn't tend to have bad races, or make poor decisions which adds up over the season.

He's right that Ferrari need to keep pushing though, the team are saying that too, the season isn't over yet, can't get complacent. Another one of his main strengths, looking at the bigger picture, understanding when to preserve tyres and when to push.

Did you see his race? He was great being aggressive on overtakes but also judging them so he only made a move when there was room, backing out of it and being patient if needed.

F1 is a team sport, and Alonso is working really well with Ferrari now, he seems to get on great with his race engineer.
