They used to be challenging with Red Bull, Ferrari, McLarens and Lotus'. They won their first race and managed to get pole in Monaco.

It just seems like they've taken a step back in the development race, while Red Bulls, Ferraris and Lotis have stepped it up, they've stayed still and are now looking behind their shouldar at the Williams and Force India who have significantly improved their pace.

The qually pace is still strong simply because the double DRS is helping them, but for me, they're still lacking in pure pace. Ross Brawn said they had a small upgrade coming for Silverstone which would gives them that added speed, but I would imagine that the others will improve too.

I know Micheal Schumacher got a podium, which I'm made up for him about, but he only got that because of Vettel and Grosjean having reliability problems. With Maldonado crashing into Hamilton and ruining both their races.

So, am I being naive or are the Mercedes lacking a few tenths to the faster cars?

Yes, they are lacking pace and developments.

They're proof that Saturday and Sunday are different days. I'd add that Ferrari is their polar opposite.

True.

Rather surprised at how Mercedes at the last few races they seem to have disappeared.

I'm relieved some people agree with me

I was expecting to be called an idiot cus I have the intelligence of a teaspoon :D .

Tyre wear has always been a problem for Mercedes this season, they just eat the tyres, especially on a hot track like Valencia. They seem to look after them better in cooler conditions.

I wonder if Merc will add to their tally of 1 win this year?

I doubt it to be honest mate. If they can bring some big upgrades and keep up with the there in the devlopment race then maybe, especially at a track like Monza with their double DRS system giving them a big advantage down the long straights, but I think at the moment they lack race performance + tyre degradation is a major problem for them. They can't look after them.

How will you do it. Let the milk soak into the chopstick then suck it dry :hehe:.

Good luck either way, you'll need amazing good hand skills to work those chopsticks well :D.

I could see mercedes having a chance at a win in silverstone with some cloud cover, thereby lowering track temps, and a successful update on the car to match whatever others are bringing. Their engine would certainly give them the horsepower platform that would suit this track well and both their drivers are great. Favor tipped to MSC if it's raining!!
