Olympics?
Aah, I'm so looking forward to the gymnastics - they are so very flexible :cloud9::twisted::whip:

Almost forgot about this...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm is there a :touch myself: smiley??:rofl::rofl:

Pick one from here.

This is an Olympic thread. Let's let this sabre-rattling cease, seeing as the transition to PMs was woefully unsuccessful! :P

Shall we return to London 2012? :spin:

I think that Texan chap was onto something here about the adultness of the forum.

You thought you hated the Olympics, apparently the terrorists are all out to get us for hosting the games! If it's about safety, I reckon we'd be a lot safer without the games then!

People thought traffic, noise and general crowdedness was the downside, no the bloody foreigners aren't simply going to idle about looking lost on the tube, delaying precious seconds from our London trademarked suited businesspersons, ungratefully elbowing us in the street and shoving in front of us in queues as faux aspirational civilians, talking not in English in England; they think they're better than us, getting their own lanes in roads, and all the best tickets and they want the icing on the cake and blowing us all up!

Peace love and international cooperation, bollecks, the Olympics is simply a competitive nationalistic arena. Having to support people simply because of their nationality, not only silly, but empirically proven to be a very dangerous mindset for basic humanity. No wonder there needs to be such a great show of military force.

The Olympic torch is in my neck of the woods today and tomorrow and there was a concert in the centre of town.

Part of the torch route was literally right round the corner from my flat and I could even hear the excitment. I could have just thrown on a jacket and in less than a minute I could have been watching what was occurring. I had to choose between setting aside my health and safety concerns about someone running through a crowd with an exposed flame or watch Last of the Summer Wine.

In the end it was an easy choice - Last of the Summer Wine won hands down.

Just thought I'd share my Olympic experience and resurrect this thread at the same time. :D

I don't understand the concept of the Olympic torch. But I think people have given up trying to be cheerful about events on here making my last comment a little obsolete.

To a scruffy little herbert, yes. I'm more of a cross between Compo and Clegg - I'm usually scruffy thanks to my work but filled with wistful wisdom. :D

Caught some of the track and field US trials yesterday, the team going to London is certainly stronger than the team that went to Beijing but it's certainly going to be a Jamaica/US slugfest in the 100/200/400.

Today Phelps and Lochte get in the pool.

I remember when Sydney 2000 games were on, At the time I was still going to school, And they gave us and all schools around Australia a 2 week Holiday because of the games :D And also some factories, companies and whatever a 2 week break aswell which was pretty cool. Is there a simular thing happen over there around the UK?
