LOL 20 second penalty for Maldo....way to go stewards. Hamiltons WDC chase dented and the idiot loses 1 point for sheer stupidity.

The consequence is hardly ever the basis of judgement for penalties.....
In the end, it was a bonehead thing to happen, which could have been avoided, but not deliberate. Things that happen when nobody wants to yield. Lewis should have yielded and maldonado should have been more patient.....

Yielded?

I think you need to watch another sport if you expect racing drivers to yield and wave the other car past.

Sorry, but these guys are on track to race. Not to wave people through.

Lewis should have yielded ..........

I disagree 100%.

Why would a driver yield to car thats gone wide off the track?
I know Ham fans would have rather he let Maldo through and bag some points but the incident couldn't have been avoided by Hamilton, I doubt he even saw Maldo come back at him so quickly...

Kimi overtook Hamilton with no contact. Maldonado should be mature enough a driver by now to have learned how to overtake without taking other drivers out.

I don't think any Hamilton fan wanted him to just let the idiot through. F1ea isn't even a Hamilton fan. :hehe:

I'm on the fence on this one. Initially watching live, I was disappointed in Lewis' decision to fight that corner knowing that Maldonado had much better tyres and ate him up from quite some distance away. Let him go and maintain your consistency with picking up points. Yielding is not in a racer's DNA but in this case, it would have been the right move for Lewis. Horrible day but he'll rebound. He's still learning.

I'm just saying...

So... while this argument is still going...

Anybody want to praise the fact that there was an "average" but consistent red square box and a silver marvel of unreliability in Parc Fermé, today?

Too much going on today and the tape delay here sucks so after watching the race, I'll optimistically say that Valencia was not boring so thank you F1 for that.

A big congratulations and a well deserved win for Alonso, a podium for a legend, and another nice try for Kimmi even if they once again fell short. Lewis, Lewis, Lewis, tomorrow you'll wake up knowing that a fourth place finish would have been far better than a DNF, learn from it and let's move on.

I'm going outside to enjoy a perfect summer day. See you guys later.

WB you talk like as if Hamilton had a choice there. He'd had to have done an emergency brake to bring the car to a stop to avoid a DNF. :hehe:

Hey guys, based on the results so far, I ran some Monte Carlo simulations to see the likelihood of each driver winning the championship. You'll notice that the probability rankings do not match the current standings.

Drivers ranked by probability of winning championship based on 70 simple normal Monte Carlo simulations:

1. FERNANDO ALONSO - 34.29%
2. Lewis Hamilton - 17.14%
3. Mark Webber - 15.71%
4. Seb Vettel - 14.29%
5. Nico Rosberg - 10%
6. Jenson Button - 2.86%
T6. Kimi Raikkonen - 2.86%
8. Romain Grosjean - 1.43%
T8. Pastor Maldonado - 1.43%

This means that in about 35% of the seasons that have unfolded this way so far, Alonso will ultimately win the title. Hamilton will win the title in 17% of the seasons that have unfolded as they have so far, etc.

So the simulations show that Hamilton remains more likely to win than Webber, largely due to Webber's inability to consistently get on the podium, but Webber does stand ahead of Vettel thanks to his greater consistency in picking up points.

Grosjean and Raikkonen are basically out of contention by a mile because they can't muster up wins. And no matter how consistent you are, you just won't win the championship if you can't pick up victories once or twice in my simulation.

That's why Button remains ahead of both Lotuses, despite being behind both of them in the current standings.

Rosberg remains in with a shout.

The Top 5 dwarf the rest. That's the most interesting conclusion here, as it shows that the season, though it's not even halfway done yet, has indeed taken a rigid shape despite all the apparent unpredictability of each individual race.

I wonder if anyone at McLaren have figured out if they didn't royally cockup Lewis' safety car pitstop, he would have won the race by getting out between Vettel and Alonso. With Vettel falling, I'm convinced Lewis could have managed his gap to Alonso and spared his tyres from the lead instead of chasing and burning them down to the core. So McLaren, back to their style of finding ways to blow opportunities. Fascinating! :irked:

I found the behavior on this thread today dismal and well worthy a comparison of the PM-LH incident
:director: The name calling of drivers HAS TO STOP! :banghead: And if it doesn't, you're in for a warning 8-):whip:

Can someone explain to me why Alonso did not get penalized for not returning to the winners circle with his car...does that not constitute a penalty? I remember a few races back when a Maclaren did not have enough fuel to return , they were disqualified...what am I missing??
