In a few minutes I'm heading out to the only authentic English pub in town it's not bad from what I"m told... here's the link to their menu any suggestions?

It's right there in the middle of the webpage:

Our Famous Fish & Chips £13
wrapped in British newsprint, this dish is as classic as Oliver Twist

the British chippies are not allowed to use newspapers anymore because people where getting poisoned by the ink

Well now you know how the US sees it.

I wound up having the cottage pie. The traditional English Faggots was my second choice actually, but I just couldn't bring myself to say the word "faggots". Very derogatory you know. I tried the Scotch Egg as well, and two "imperial" pints of Smithwicks.

Oh BTW, LRW... I mentioned about the colcannon, and the waitress looked at me as if I had two heads. :hehe:

I read the menu out to the office today, it is funny how almost none of that is really "english pub food"

Soup of the Day - Normal for an english pub
House Seafood Chowder - What is Chowder?
Ploughman's Lunch - Real Pub food :-)
Scotch Egg - In a chippy maybe
Mussels - maybe a seaside pub
Buffalo Wings - Oh yes from the famous Buffalo herd in Essex

Entrees - lets just name some food after something famous from english literature. lol

Faggots should be served with mushy peas.

To be fair I would of probably gone for the Bangers and Mash or Cottage Pie. (even though I am sure people in scotland would only eat it with an english sausage in it, like the menu says)

I notice Bettys Hot Pot is not on the menu, or Jelled Eels.

Then again watching Man V Food on TV has probably tainted what I think Americans eat as well.

I would love to eat as that man does.

Although I wouldnt want to pile on the pounds as he seems to have over the series....

I went to Bristol. And saw David Cameron at Paddington Station. I didn't stop to chat though, I'm far too important for all that :P

I built a metal & glass TV stand with integrated flat panel TV mount, took about three hours to build, spent more time deciphering the instructions than I did actually building it!

Later I have a dining room table and three bookcases to build... at least later I won't have to contend with the kids like I did with the TV stand!

Hopefully nothing anymore - just trying to control the weed (I even used landscape fabric under the mulch to suppress any growth).
