I don't think society ought to be set up in such a way that citizens seek to outwit or circumvent accepted practice (I.e. a term we're used to in f1, the "spirit of the law").

That just encourages government or other authority figures to tighten restrictions which is a bad think in itself, could be a slippery slope and have unintended consequences.

I came across an interesting chart and since we've been discussing taxes, I thought I'd share. This is strictly in America, but my feeling it that it's not much different for you guys in the UK.

The bottom of the chart reflects the ideal that we think when asked, what a "fair" distribution of wealth would be. The middle part of the chart shows what we "think" the distribution of wealth actually is. The top of the chart shows what the "actual" distribution of wealth is in America. Taking it even further, 1% of the top 20% owns 50% of the entire nation's wealth. Yes, equality in taxes is difficult to achieve, when you look at the amount of wealth the bottom 40% of the country has.

The guys broken no laws. I heard the PM talking on tv today about 'moral obligation', thats a dangerous route for the PM to go down. What about moral obligation to spend OUR tax money wisely? Bailing banks out and continuing to let them receive ridiculous bonuses? Olympics? High speed train link from Birmingham to London that takes about 20mins off the journey? Raiding the pension funds? The list goes on. Suddenly 'moral obligation' goes out of the window.

I dont believe he should of made any direct comment on it, especially not singling out any one person. Notice he didnt slag off the British Golden boy Gary Barlow, who is claimed to be in the scheme too......

Comedian Jimmy Carr: I've made terrible error over tax

Dont know if you noticed Andrew, but this was mentioned on previous page, and it was decided that your disapproval was the main driving force behind his apology. Seems you have far reaching powers. OR Jimmy Carr is an F1 fan, and is a member of this forum.

:hehe:

No I didn't notice. No need to be a prick about it.

Oh my God Andrew you are so senstitive. The point of my post had nothing to do with the fact you didnt see it, more the fact you have the power to make celebrities apologise.

I would appreciate it if you didnt talk to me like that.

NO ONE PAYS NOTHING IN TAXES... unless you're a corporation.

Preaching to the choir.

talking to yourself is the 1st sign of madness
