There has always been periods of domination in F1. It's the nature of the sport when there is stability in the rules for a couple of seasons.

Of course. There are also more unpredictable seasons though too.

Blasting the new regs and slaying the sport is very lame. How can the racing this year not be enjoyable?

I wouldn't say it's not enjoyable but it is a bit of a lottery. It seems that it's either a famine or a feast with F1 at the moment.

It wasnt a lottery last race, we had 5 driver/team combos slugging it out for the win using different strategies. The top 3 lead most of the race, gambled and lost to the 2 driver/team combos representing the challengers of the established order

Where was the luck or unpredictability there? Shirley thats exactly what we want to see each and every race, the best battling and challengers close behind them

How can anyone say this race was ruined or belittled by lottery conditions?

I wasn't meaning this race. Just the season in general.

Kind of a boring race considering what canada is generally like. Nice to see lewis win, even nicer to see a mclaren up there. Really too bad about jenson, I hope we can start seeing some real 1/2s soon.

I expect vettel win in valencia. Pole sitter wins that drone zone.

I was pretty happy with their pace as well, hotter temps were not McLaren's ally but they still managed to reel in the Redbull which outqualified them by 0.3seconds....again, where do they get this crazy pace in qualifying from? Everyone is mystified by their unnatural pace in qualifying, in the race though it seems whatever advantage was there has vanished. :scratchchin:

IMO there are 2 factors at work here, which tend to favor the RB8. The biggest is the ability to switch on tires in one lap, this is a huge advantage which RB has. The second is weight (fuel load). The RB8 is good in very low fuel running but relatively poor with any sort of fuel load. Teams are finding it very difficult to hit the sweet spot in setup where you get tires switched on fast but don't degrade too quickly during a race stint.

I don't necessarily think it was a boring race... the strategies being played out amongst the leaders was gripping IMO! But I know what you mean, Montreal usually throws up a number of safety cars!

Yeah I'm surprised there weren't really any incidents at all. The first round of pit stops was gripping!!!!! And the last 20 laps were outstanding. Definitely not a boring race by any means in my book. But, to each his own :D

I have to agree with you spanky, the RB8 is still setting fast lap honors at the end of races, but unlike last year that under a heavy load Seb was able to pull away well outside the DRS window, it was clear that in Canada he wasn't able to pull away even though everyone in our fantasy pool was expecting him to do so. Additionally under heavy fuel it eats rears faster than the competition.

Tires are just too unpredictable this season. Soon, no one will fight for pole in Q3, they will just save tires...

I doubt it to be honest, look at the start-finish ratio this season. Starting at the front is proving to be extremely beneficial, as long as it's backed up by a decent strategy. Look at Rosberg, Maldonado, etc!

He might have a point, for example teams who know from practice they are only 3rd best or so...and stand to only qualify 5th or 6th. Look at what Vettel did in Monaco, the guy never ran in Q3 (even though Monaco is a b**ch to overtake on) and ended up 4th!

On more open tracks like Spa or Monza where overtaking is almost a breeze with DRS, you'd see the teams on the back foot easily vying for this strategy.

Unless they encounter Schumacher's wide car (at Monza). Ross Brawn will have to be on the radio again!:wink:
