Balance has been restored to this thread with this latest vote bringing back even. Don't worry Jenson, you may have seen a bad day at the track, but here we're still confident in your ability to help bring McLaren a WCC in 2012.

:hehe: Indeed, which is surprising, following events in Montreal!

Jenson's decline from winning the opening round in dominant fashion, to starting 10th and trailing home 16th is shocking. He is famed for working the tyres well, and yet we here cries of "no grip" more often than ever before. For him to then say "it's nothing to do with the tyres" post-race is thus perplexing.

I hope he manages to get it together soon, because in a season like this, it's proving costly for McLaren in the WCC! :yikes:

I would definite say that Lewis has the upper hand right now! :hehe:

Maybe McLaren could somehow sneak some 2010 spec rubber on Button's car for the remainder of the year?

During the race, a friend sent me a message saying maybe everyone's switched back to Bridgestones except for Button. :hehe:

I don't believe it's just tyres that is causing Jenson to be so far down the pecking order; to finish seven places lower than where he started in a McLaren without making mistakes has to be another issue, I think we all agree that Lewis has a natural speed advantage over Jenson, but traditionally Jenson brings home the points by out-strategising and sensible smooth driving, which is why I believe it would normally even out over the course of a season. Jenson may not be the best driver on the grid, but he is not as bad as 16th place in a race winning car!

Maybe it is a 16th place car and Hamilton's adaptability is the difference? Hey that's how it works at Ferrari. :hehe:

Conspiracy?

Why not? Ron Dennis is in the garage more frequently recently, he clearly is sabotaging Button's car, putting substandard rear suspension on his car! :P

I heard that Whitmarsh was found locked in a cupboard after the race and Ron Dennis was seen with a wig that matched Whitmarsh's hair.

This conspiracy actually seem plausible. :hehe:

The way this season is going, only a fool would bluntly write it off at this point really. The next major upgrade package could very easily suddenly fix all his problems, just as the previous one appears to have created them. Or the issue can be found and a fix made. Or he can find a way of getting the tyres to work for him. The list goes on. As for WCC... both the Red Bull drivers as well as the team itself are just that bit more consistent really. But it's still wide open. Speaking of the WCC it'd be nice to have that really and truly on the line going into the final race for once, we haven't really seen that very often in F1.

Don't you worry ma'am, Martin Whitmarsh has come to Jensons rescue yet again and said "McLaren is completely at fault for our baby Jens"

Martin Whitmarsh believes McLaren was to blame for Jenson Button's poor performance in the Canadian Grand Prix.

While Lewis Hamilton became the seventh winner of the season to take the lead in the drivers' championship, Button struggled to 16th place - eventually being lapped by his team-mate. Whitmarsh, however, said a failure to do certain set-up work during a reliability-affected Friday practice left Button with an uncompetitive car.

"Jenson is a great racing driver, but we served him badly over the weekend," Whitmarsh is quoted by Sporting Life. "His rear tyres were completely shot because we didn't long-run with his suspension set-up on Friday. That was our fault. We didn't give him a car he could perform in.

"Looking at what is happening with the rear tyres I think the car was excessively hard on them. It was killing the tyres. But we have a lot more data, so we will sit with the engineers and do more analysis. He is a super-smooth driver and we just didn't give him a car he could do it with. We have to get it right."

Whitmarsh added that he didn't expect Button's confidence to be dented and is targeting victory in Valencia next weekend.

"He has a smart head on his shoulders, he is strong minded and he will keep his head up. He is capable of coming back, and I hope he does. He could be the first driver to repeat a win this season."

He is right in the fact that Jenson is indeed an intelligent racer, and is fully capable of coming back from the recent difficulties. I don't know which driver WILL be the first to repeat a win this season, but my guess is that Valencia is where it will happen.

I hope it's Lewis or Jenson! :D:D
