Ferrari said yesterday that Perez is too inexperienced for them at the moment. Also that they will not make a decision on Massa until half way through the season.

I think it all hinges on Schumacher and Hamilton and what they do

Hamilton will stay at McLaren. Schumacher will either stay at Merc, or retire, depending on how the rest of this season pans out.

Don't be too sure yet. He's been offered the terms but there's a reason he's not signed it. Hopefully he holds off a bit longer to see if this team is indeed going down the drain, or not.

Down the drain? They've performed worse than this before! A lot worse.

If 1 win and 2nd in the WCC is going down the drain, then where are the teams 3rd and down headed? Lotus haven't even won a race this year... they're just as good as finished then.

I'm surprised someone of your intelligence took my words so literally. I don't mean the team is going bankrupt or about to quit F1, I mean a team which is not going to be challenging for wins and WDCs for a long time to come. Don't forget, McLaren had not won a WDC for a DECADE until Hamilton arrived and got it back for them. Just. McLaren are always there or thereabouts, they don't seem to have that dominating factor anymore of the late 90s, Ferrari have had it, Redbull have had it, hell even Renault had it. Then came Redbull.

Thinking of it from Lewis' perspective, I don't think he's the kind of chap who is content with getting 3-4 wins a season and that's it. McLaren may not be in a position to deliver more than this for God knows how much longer, which is why it is wise to sit tight and take more time to analyze what's happening with the team. Is Whitmarsh really capable? I have my doubts, McLaren have made mistakes every year, but their consistency this year is scary.

Consistency for everyone is scary though this season, there's hardly a team which has not experienced a degree of fluctuation in terms of results and finishes. I confess that, after the glory of Melbourne, I'm somewhat disappointed with the team's results since then, but as no other team has really shown them how it's done, then I think there's still some hope. No team is running away with this, thankfully.

2008 he got it back for them correct, he should have gotten it back a year earlier though!

Who's fault was that my friend....Shanghai when Lewis radio'ed in saying his intermediates were done, McLaren bleated back "We need to stay out", another great strategical move.

In Brazil, till today no one knows what the heck happened, I put it down to a car electronics malfunction though some say Lewis hit the limiter, but no one knows for sure.

Wrong. Consistency in pace is not the issue here. I don't blame McLaren for being the 4th or 5th quickest in Bahrain, I blame their ridiculous pitstops.

I'm talking about consistency in them shooting themselves in the foot. If another team ups their game and comes out with a faster car, good on them, it's a development chase. But basic strategical calls and something fundamental like getting a PITSTOP right should not be an issue to be talked about for WEEKS. It's pathetic. I'm hoping they can only improve from here.

 he would have won China had he kept it on the road. He had the steering wheel in his hand there did he not? He came in too hot simple. And as for Brazil well you can believe the glitch story but simple fact is Lewis blew it. And since then has made many mistakes of his own doing costing the team victories yet I'm sure fans of the team have not come out in angst towards Lewis... Funny that.

So having a puncture on a wet track and pitting is normal circumstances? The fact is, that situation was unnecessary but McLaren always makes it much tougher for their drivers than it needs to be. Yes, Lewis went in too hot as a rookie driver with a punctured tyre on a wet track pitting from the lead! Multiple champions have simply crashed out while leading races under no pressure at all!

What's your theory about Brazil btw? And how many victories has Lewis blown for McLaren since he joined F1? Your list should be interesting. :hehe:

Please, Lewis was almost back to the pits in fact he was... He over cooked it which cost the win and the title there and then. And surely you don't really need a list of the times Lewis has made mistakes? Just trying to point out to some Lewis fans like yourself he has made many mistakes in his time at McLaren which have cost the team dearly. In fact his mistakes outweigh those caused by the team his way. But its ok to jump on them when they do make mistakes and let his slide.

Since its the silly season topic, here's an interesting bit...regarding lewis . Ferrari have looked at Vettel for next year and Alonso has okayed it..but he has vetoed hamilton. It seems Mr. Alonso knows where his true threat lies. Once bitten and all that. Lewis has said he's not thinking about it yet,he's leaving it to other people and will consider things when the time is right.

On the tyre thing in 2007 when Lewis was a rookie, he may have underestimated how much slippier the pit lane was but he was a rookie. Both he and Bridgestone had been begging to come in for a while, the tyre was down to canvas and thats why it punctured.

Hamilton fan's rubbish...
It's all about team politics. You really think Vettel will leave Red Bull any time soon?

Ive no idea whether he'd leave. What I said was ferrari had approached him and Alonso was favourable to it.(Sunday Times -article by Mark Hughes)

It's because Alonso knows Vettel is not leaving Red Bull and will never drive with him. The biggest mistake ever was to place him with another great driver in the team, like it happened with Hamilton. Those 3 are just not for the same team, it's understandable.

Exactly! Alonso scared?! BWAHAHAHA!!!

Red Bull is his motorsport home as it were. He won't be leaving for a while. Nor will Hamilton be leaving McLaren for a while (if ever) for much the same reasons.

I could see Vettel at Ferrari, but not before 2014.

Glock has sold his soul to the devil on that rainy day in Brasil, 2008...

Oooooooooooo! Conspiracy! :P:twisted::whip:

That still remains an iconic F1 moment though, 3 and a half years later.

Yes d@mmit, he even pulled into the KFC drive-through and ordered a family bucket when nobody was looking...

He will never be forgiven

Where did you see this? I remember Alonso saying before that he doesn't mind Lewis partnering him as long as its not at Mclaren (trying to sell his "everyone was against me" bullsh*t).

But I'd be interested to see the excerpt which shows Alonso saying ok for Vettel and not Hamilton. Is he really the cowardly loser I always thought he was until few months ago? :(

Look where his F1 career has gone. It's divine retribution. Proof that God is not a Lewis Hamilton fan. :hehe:
