So much for expecting FP1 to give us a clear idea about which team would have the advantage at this track:

1. Lewis Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes 1m15.564 30
2. Sebastian Vettel Red Bull-Renault 1m15.682s + 0.118 29
3. Nico Rosberg Mercedes 1m15.782s + 0.218 30
4. Fernando Alonso Ferrari 1m15.842s + 0.278

0.278 between the four teams doesn't mean a lot given it's FP1. Now if it were qualifying.....

Only thing of note that I can see are slow Lotus Renaults.

Lotus normally comes alive in the races (bar Monaco), Bahrain being an example. They are the masters of moving forwards from way back this season.

Coming forward from the back may also be aided by the fact that Montreal often presents a race of high attrition. While this may provide a good outlook for Lotus, what about the back markers?

First realistic chance of points, perhaps?

Wasn't this the place where a driver hit an animal and had to retire from the race? This was in the early 2000s I think.

Picked up from another website:

There were also some surprise visitors on the track during the morning with groundhogs, squirrels and a fox all getting slightly closer to the action than the drivers would have liked.

Might be a problem for the race. :(

You never know in this F1 lottery. I'm going to put £10 on a trackside groundhog winning.

Happens all the time at this track but animal attack is probably a hazard at most circuits, especially with wooded areas.

BTW, I'm rooting for the groundhog. :hehe:

They usually run race fuel in FP1, so don't read loads into that. They've generally not set the world alight in FP1 this season.

The A1 Ring had deer... "Oh dear!" (Montoya). :hehe:

So we had foxes and squirrels in FP1... what will FP2 bring? :munchies:
