Picked one up the other day to find 1 dead pixel. Everything worked fine until I downloaded the Vista Ultimate updates, now all the media buttons don't work, incredibly slow start up times and the speakers stop working after sometime and requires a restart. Love the 20.1" screen, HD DVD drive, biometric scanner and lightscribe disc labeling though. The ATI 2600XT graphics are good but nothing too impressive. I tested with FSX setting everything to high and got about 20 fps. Im going to exchange this with another HDX if I cant find a patch to fix the glitches.

Oooh, nice laptop! Does the screen swivel as well?

Good luck with the whole Vista thing - I've only just come kicking and screaming into the XP world and have absolutely no intention of getting Vista until I absolutely 100% have to ;)

I'm tempted to get a laptop however I'm leaning more towards the eeePC if only because there's absolutely no way it will play games ;)

The screen does swivel but not left to right if thats what you were wondering, you would have to yaw the laptop itself to change viewing angle. Its a little heavier then it looks so its not as easy as it looks. I say this for others. I am 6'1" and have no problems at all viewing the laptop. I don't complain about it like the others.

As for the Vista, yeah I know. But unfortunately now days as far as we are already into the Vista era there inst much choice for operating systems out now.

Stop biatching and get a MAC FFS! They run everything on the speediest processors: OSX, Vista, Linux.

It is, but it lacks an optical drive which makes life a bit more complicated. I also think it's a bit underpowered in some areas. It's still a beauty though and fits in an inter-office envelope 8)
The optional solid state drive makes it highly desirable for road warriors, but also pushes its price tag over 3k.

Windows Vista is truly awful. It looks nice, but it's scandalous how slow it is and that it won't run many programmes properly (or some at all)! My laptop is well over twice as powerful as my old desktop computer, but runs much, much slower thanks to Vista. I'm very tempted to downgrade back to Windows XP.

Go for it...I bought a new PC for work a couple of months back and I made sure it came pre-installed with XP rather than any of that nasty Vista malarkey
