does anyone have a boat or used to have a boat?

I have recently gotten a 4.9m motor boat (looks like a speed boat) It is my 1st boat and it needs some work before I get it on the water.

anyone got any advice or tips?

I never had one, but here's one tip: Don't let it sink.

Make sure the engine isn't going to fall off (from the experience of a friend) or at least have a spare motor (same friend) and make sure the drain holes are plugged (him again).

ETA He's supposedly got some boating licence, the only time i've been in a boat under his control he managed to crash into one of those big metal buoys in open sea.

Buy a lifejacket, an inflatable dingy and a compass. Get swimming lessons if you need to.

Nope ,but I get sea sick in the bath ,so never likely too

8 AA size batteries and max speed of 30km/h not too shabby.

An outboard... Well it is that outboard it is in my boot at the moment. The wooden transdom (spl) is non existent so that is my next job on the list. The engine is a mercury 25 blue band.
