But think about it guys, these dates will be remembered in history. In 30 years time when your grandkids are sat on your knee and they ask if you watched the diamond jubilee your answer will be "no I sat on the sofa and played with myself"?

I could tell them it provided the inspiration for the British Revolution.

Seriously though, I don't care too much for the history of it, it would have happened regardless of wether I watched it or not. It doesn't really effect me.

Will they though? I never even asked my Grandma where she was when the Queen was first crowned. For me 9/11 is, i think, the most significant thing that has happened in my near 26 years, off the top of my head. I will always remember where i was when i first heard about that. To be honest i would hope by that point that we don't have to deal with the royal family any more anyway, personally.

I'd tell 'em "I had better things to do with my time than watch an old hag celebrity wave her hand around like a jedi" ...and by better things to do with my time I do mean touching myself :D:D:D

Come on mate, it is a once in a lifetime thing! I bet you could not be bothered by the wedding last year either.

The wedding of 2 complete strangers was of no interest to me, nor is this aniversary of another complete stranger. If I get married the country won't stop for me, nor will it stop for me if I do my job for 60 years.

You stop to watch complete strangers do their job driving around in cars every second weekend don't you?

Nobility, must be the greatest piece of propaganda ever.

But wealth isn't.... somehow the two are inexorably linked.

You lot are so f***ing miserable it drives me f***ing crazy!!

It was a great day. We had 28 people over to ours for a massive all day house party. It was great to see the royal family and all the pomp and pageantry that goes with it (thats somehting this country is still good at). I don't think id feel half as British without the royal family.

Some people on this board are so negative, and boring and moody and cynical, they are complete wasting their life. In my opinion.

Something that brings the country together like this should just be embraced and celebrated.....

how is something thats brings so much fun and joy, as shown below, not be celebrated.....

That looks fantastic!

Well, as I said, I'm doing my bit with two events... performing in one, and watching the other... at opposite ends of England. :)

thanks mate, I honestly was beginning to think that everyone else on here was a bunch of mardy ar5ed grumps. I can understand the non-brits caring. However as someone said earlier it is mostly for the english, what rubbish! I as a welsh man was all for the whole thing.

Some of us had a pop at facebook the other day saying that it was damaging the relationships of people etc. Now people are saying when there is a chance for people to meet real peopleand communicate with them it was not right. How can something like this:-

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-ox ... e-18322159

be wrong. I am sure it will live in the memories of the people who attended for a long time.
