Will be such a shame if he never does show he true talent and potential. Pretty sure he was a definite World Champion.

But at the end of the day, motorsport is dangerous, they all know it and take the risks, so it was just unfortunate.

dumb :censored: shouldn't have rallied

As a minimum he should of at least learnt how to rally, and not how to crash.

"Learnt how to rally" - you clown.

Motorsport is dangerous. It was an accident. Can't really blame him too much for it. Look at the amount of stuff Kimi does outside of F1.

Robert Kubica has undergone surgery in order to improve the mobility of his arm following his accident last year.

The Pole, who continues recovering from the horrific crash he was involved in during a rally at the start of last year, had surgery at the Pederzoli hospital at the end of last month, when parts of his elbow were replaced with two prosthesis.

According to the doctor in charge of the operation, that will allow Kubica to fully handle the steering wheel of a car.

The doctor also said that the Polish driver had been carrying out tests in a simulator prior to the operation.

"This way the driver will be able to fully handle the steering wheel, while before he was unable to rotate the palm down, so he was forced to release the steering wheel in order to turn left," head surgeon Ruggero Testoni was quoted as saying by Italian media.

"The surgery was preceded by a series of tests in a car simulator. It will take at least one month in order to stabilize."

All hope is not lost :)

Yeah all hope is not lost in terms of his arm mobility, but for the teams in F1 (or even in other racing series) he is damaged goods. Massa got a knock on the head and it seems to have taken away his edge. Kubica practically got crumpled up, who's to say he could drive like before? I'd be pleasantly surprised if he proves me wrong, but if I were a team boss he's out of my scout list forever.

Yep. It's sad, but that's the way it's looking. :(

I'm happy enough to see him alive and doing very well considering what he went through. About motorsports, I have the feeling he might get back into something like Le Mans, or some Touring championship. But no F1, definitely. It's just too rough.

Last I've heard about him was last weekend, not being official but saying the same, supposedly some italian journalists saw him after a practice struggling to hold a simple glass of water... Hope he keeps recovering.

They are talking about him right now on SKY. For the time being it looks like he's focusing on rally drive...

I do miss him. He was one of those nice, unspoiled by PR-training, drivers. I was really hopeful for his return, but I feel like it's taking too long now. On top of that many drivers who've had such a big crash never fully recover. Even though their body can do it again, they can't.

Robert Kubica took victory on his return to competition in an Italian domestic rally on Sunday.

The event was the first motorsport contest the Pole had entered since sustaining horrific injuries in a rally accident in Italy in February 2011.

Driving a Subaru Impreza World Rally Car with Giuliano Manfredi, Kubica won all four stages of the Ronde Gomitolo di Lana rally to claim victory by nearly a minute over Omar Bergo's WRC Mini.

Before the start of the rally, Kubica told Italian television channel SkySport24 that the event marked the start of "a more active phase" in a recovery that he still hopes will bring him back to Formula 1 eventually.

"Let's hope we can enjoy ourselves, without looking at stage times because in the end it's a matter of re-establishing the way of driving and helping the arm to recover better," said Kubica.

"Having been a driver for 20 years, my body is accustomed to certain things, and I can feel these things only while I drive, so we'll see."

I don't know how good the competition were, but it's good to see him competing again, at least.

:thumbup: Competition might have been poor compared to what he's used to but who cares, i'm very happy for the guy. One thing at a time, and i still hope that we'll see him back in an F1 car someday. :)

I personally don't think he'll ever race in F1 again, but as long as he gets back to some form of racing. He couldn't spray champagne with his right hand, due to damage still there.
