And on the 7th day he put his feet up and had a cup of tea.

:bs: Baseless rubbish. Maybe you only started watching F1 since 2007 but it's been increasing in popularity since 1950 and has always been popular for as long as I can remember!

And now he is the most marketable and known driver

All young F1 drivers are marketable.

He is always in headlines and gets talked about most

Is he? I've read a paper every day this week and I've not seen him once make a headline. Button, di Resta and Webber have.

That's 'cos we be winding up the LL's and trying to explain that there is no conspiracy or favouritism and other such witchcraft.

Who cares about conspiracy, right now Lewis is giving Jenson a royal seeing to,it's Jenson who is letting the team down right now.

He needs to pull his finger out and stop making excuses, conspiracy or not.

Keep on doing what you are doing Lewis,it's the sure way to get under the haters skin.

Button has been absolutely monstered by Lewis, If he recovers from this I will be impressed, but how does he regain his mojo and confidence after such a lame display? He cant improve his quali pace, he never did before and only did well when car was faster than the rest in the race, this masked his poor speed. Now I do not beleive he has the speed to beat the drivers from Sauber, Merc, Force India, RBR and Lotus. Therefore unless the McLaren car becomes the fastest by far again like first race he should continue to qualify outside Q3 and sometimes maybe even outside Q2

So he starts each race stuck behind young chargers, more incidents, LH had similar last year but he never stopped challenging, I do not think Button is that strong mentally, I expect lots of incidents and errors as Button becomes more desperate and starts gambling to try and get near the front

I have to say I disagree. Audiences began to decline during the fierce domination of the Scuderia, which came to a head in 2002 and lasted until 2004. IMO, it was the rise of Renault and Alonso in 2005, which brought a fresh face to the sport, and the season-long battle with Raikkonen proved a big crowd pleaser. The increased competition and better quality of racing brought about a regeneration of the sport, and so the crowds began to increase again.

Lewis Hamilton's presence, along with that of Sebastian Vettel, merely served to solidify the increasing popularity of F1.

Just my thoughts.

Hmmn, you could be right ofcourse, however I think the importance of Lewis was in opening up F1 to a wider mainstream audience. And thats where the real growth has come from

Cant really quantify this, only opinion for now

Money and where it goes though give us a clue to what the important people think. Therefore we would expect to find the most marketable and therefore most 'known about' driver receiving the most compensation, in fact it would have to be the a deal that dwarves the others

it may be true for the UK, however I can not see why someone in a mud hut in bongo bongo land would suddenly start walking 15 miles to the nearest TV set (have to pay which ever provider Bernie has decided to let them show the sport) to see the fabled Hamilton.

Maybe not, (but even in um bongo land they have internet and anyone with internet can watch each race without being shaken down by Murdock and his bullies) but the guy might buy a phone card that has a Lewis sponsor message on it

after all this is what he aspires to, Lewis who has climbed to the top despit not having a conventional background for F1 drivers
