Not too much to say about the race itself, obviously not a lot of overtaking, but then there never is at Monaco - that's not why I enjoy watching it though - as Scotty pointed out, Monaco is always tense because of the proximity of the barriers, and I did in joy the race overall.

What I would point out (and I shifted between BBC and Sky a couple of times), was that I don't agree with Brundle's summation at the end when he said that 'Button has got a lot of catching up to do'. Don't agree at all. The 31(?) points behind he is in the championship is only roughly 12 points behind in old money, i.e. only just over a win, and with what, 14 races left to go, that is plenty of time if he strings even 2 or 3 good performances together. I actually still think ALL of the below still have a chance of getting in the championship picture depending on how the cars develop in the next 2 or 3 races:

Alonso
Vettel
Webber
Hamilton
Button
Rosberg
Kimi
Schumacher

And yes I did mean to include Schumacher in that list. He is still only the same in old money as 30 points behind, and with 14 races to go, I just have a feeling his luck HAS to turn at some point. To say I was furious that Grosjean ruined his race (at that point - of course we don't yet know if the retirement was something unrelated) would be an understatement. Schumacher drove an excellent race considering, until the issue with his car occurred. In a race like today, he was the one that was worth the money to watch.

As I have found with Grosjean in literally every series I've regularly watched him in (4 in total) this season, he is unbelievably frustrating to watch. The turn one incident was unquestionably his fault, as were both of his previous incidents earlier in the season, squeezing Schumacher right into the barrier - what is his problem at race starts?! Grosjean still has a lot to do to mature into the final article of a racing driver - he can be blisteringly quick, but his consistency (or lack of) must drive every team boss that's ever overseen him up the wall. He's ruined too many peoples' races this year for my liking.

Congrats to Webber, really happy to see an Aussie on the top step again.

Very pleased to see Felipe having such a good race, he really needs to go on with it.

Also happy because it's looking more and more that the F2012 really is a contender, and with a big upgrade coming in both Canada and Valencia I'm hoping the car will continue to improve.

Very happy to have Fernando leading the WDC.

Hoping that Will Power can make it an all Aussie weekend by winning Indy.

Wasn't it Button, after Malaysia, that said something like Ferrari/Alonso are nothing to worry about :)

Great calculated drive from Mark Webber, I just hope that the protests about the Red Bull car are not upheld, I'll be pissed if Mark loses his win on a technicality. McLaren were out-thought today, being jumped by Alonso and Vettel, Jenson might as well just stayed in bed today, he was crap, no way to sugar coat it, his performance was woeful. I was disappointed to see Grosjean taken out before turn one, I think he could have done well if he survived the opening lap melee. Solid drive from Alonso, claiming another podium, even Massa did well to finish inside the top six, just six seconds off the leader. It's good to see a double score for Force India, Paul di Resta winning the inter-team battle, Raikkonen was lucky to score some points after running in 11th before Schumacher retired and Vergne/STR decided to change onto intermediate tyres with a handful of laps remaining. Rosberg was the big surprise for me, I really wasn't expecting a podium finish!

I don't agree, from the onboard footage, it looks like Grosjean was squeezed by Alonso and made contact with the Ferrari, which caused the chain reaction and the contact with Schumacher.

Can I just ask where the fook the BBC F1 Forum is??

I'm getting Mens Gymnastics on the red button.

I'm watching the F1 forum.

When you push the red button, you push 1 on the remote, not 3 which sends you to the Mens Gymnastics.

Unless you like watching muscly men in tight tops....

Me too. I think it's a regional thing. I think I remember LewEngBridewell saying he was able to view the forum after the last race in Englandshire. The only red button option for me is mens gymnastics. Not good enough BBC. :irked:

I don't quite agree with that either though. I've seen all of the footage too, and Alonso never actually makes any big movement, not a single one. All of his turns, without a single exception are very gradual small movements. Yes that gives a slight squeeze, but also, even though he had Hamilton in front of him, when their wheels were close to interlocking Grosjean WAS behind Alonso, and so could fully see Alonso's gradual movement. In that circumstance, to just hold your line regardless is stupid because there is just going to be contact. Alonso in that circumstance was NEVER going to pull out of the move with his nose ahead, and would have been unquestionably more difficult for him to see Grosjean's exact position and movements than the other way around where Grosjean could see exactly what Alonso was doing but chose to remain in an area that it was obvious to all and sundry that a Ferrari WAS coming into. Grosjean didn't have to necessarily yield the position, but he should have moved a little to the left (there was actually plenty of room to that side of him, almost a full car width even with Schumacher coming). Had he done that, there would have been no incident at all.

As I said, it was immature driving from Grosjean by not being able to foresee the inevitable. Not the possible or the probable, the inevitable. Yes he had the right to stay where he was technically, there is no issue with that, but there's no point in being stubborn to the point of your own (and others) demise - that's just stupid.

I would still lay the blame firmly at his door.

it's online too! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/18220835

Vald - stop breaking the rules then :whip:

Not soo interesting race, but Ferrari were looking very good here. Alonso passed Lewis despite Lewis pitting one lap earlier for an undercut, and was able to get very close to Rosberg, just not easy to pass at Monaco.

That forum is a fooking joke. Picture now gone on the website.

Dirty amatures.

Use your imagination.

It's back, just in time to see Lee Mckenzie,

Who reports,

Stefano says there will be no protest, and seemed pretty clear that the rumours were'n't anything to do with Ferrari, others were saying Ferrari were protesting.
