Why wasn't Frank on the podium?

He was probably being his usual humble, modest and gentlemanly self and let someone else go up there. :)

No ramps up to the podium.

I'm sure it has wheelchair access. I thought someone might say that.

Yes, let's have the 70 year old man wheel himself up to the podium to carry a massive trophy to celebrate.

I think he preferred to enjoy the celebrations in a more relaxed manner. :hehe:

Martin Brundle explained what they were a couple of weeks back but I can't for the life of me remember what he said exactly!

All I can remember is that he said they're not there to help the driver remember the circuit.

It was also mentioned in the BBC's practice coverage, I think Alguersuari said its so the driver can give the number of a particular corner when discussing with the engineer. Must be because what the FIA define as a corner is different to what the drivers would count as one in the car.

Yeah, they said it was because officially, on certain tracks, even little kinks in the road can be counted as corners - but the drivers dont consider them a corner - so what the driver considers to be corner 8 could officially be coner 11. So they have the maps as a quick ref guide when discussing corners.

ESPNF1:Felipe Massa was at a loss to explain why he was given a drive-through penalty during the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday, which he says ruined his chances of scoring points.

He does seem to live in another dimension, doesn't he? At some point the light has to go off in his head that he's simply not that good so the things he says just makes him look more of a plunker. He slows everyone down behind him by half a second but thinks he's keeping their pace. Felipe, c'mon man!!!

He's a joke, but Ferrari is a bigger joke for keeping him this long. Maybe Alonso loves him as a teammate, so maybe Ferrari is enjoying the harmony.

I don't think the officials would've minded him having someone give him a hand.

I don't remember Frank ever being on the podium, when they were winning all the time.

It's a bit different when they're winning all the time, their first win in years and since he's said he's not going to be attending GPs as often who's to say this isn't the last time he's there for a win.

Enjoying harmony is one thing but Ferrari as a brand is sacrificing the one thing that used to be important to them...being World Champions. Their next move at the end of the season is going to be REALLY interesting. I dear say, Rubens was much better in the second Ferrari. Good luck to them on that front.
