Why is this test at Ferraris track anyway? Bit unfair

Ferrari offered the track for free and teams agreed. Pretty well documented from last year. Judging by the driver comments they're happy with the unfair treatment

Apparently Mclaren offered theirs (see image below) but there weren't any takers....

Can't be, far too much of the mower is visible.

I gather it's Buttons McLaren after testing. Whitmarsh is believed to be so fed up of being accused of so many things by Racechick that he's gone to great lengths to show that there is no favourtism at McLaren these days and Button is not being put at an advantage at any point.

Got to say I'm really happy about what we've seen from Ferrari these past 2 days. Best news IMO is all said in this video of Nando on day 1. The F2012 just looks so much better, no twitchyness low or high speed corners, no traction problems. I think SF will make up ground on the leaders.

Mixed start to day 3 for SF and Nando. He's set the fastest time and had a off.

An off track from Fernando hampered morning's session. At least two hours to repair the damages. It is a shame but that's testing!

Gary Anderson said he suspected some front end failure, which is not good as the Mugello curbs are gentle and the track really smooth. On the other hand, the rear wing looks a little bulgy - wondering if SF have some sort of Merc DRS F-duct they are trying out?

Either way, Nando was pretty fast the previous lap.

Also, on the exhaust, although the Acer Ducts are still there, very much something only Ferrari are doing, I can see how the black module around the new periscope exhaust coming out above the Acer Duct now, could be simply changed to mimic the McLaren ducting. That would give SF the option of changing from blowing the beam to the floor circuit by circuit - rather interesting.

Been having a real close look at the hi res pics I've been able to find so far. I'm going on record and saying I'm pretty excited about what I see.

Firstly, I think Ferrari have found their own way to blow the floor/diffuser AND it is using the current configuration - even though the exhaust doesn't seem to be aimed at the outside of the floor. I also think this is our first time to see the Byrne floor that has been talked about a fair bit by the Tifosi.

I'll try and put some pics together later, but, here are are few tell tail signs. As CE posted elsewhere, there is a new sensor at the rear side of the diffuser (near the tire). When we ran our inward pointing version of the exhaust there was a hole under the brake light - its now blocked - the flow isn't going there anymore IMO. If I've read and seen correctly, the exhaust is aimed at the centre rear and then collected at the back of the diffuser and aimed at the holes where the sensor is that I mentioned.

If this is correct then it is indeed a very clever piece of aero work, and unique to SF. It would also be extremely hard to copy now.

I really do hope that Ferrari have found something special with their re-design. The more race winners and compertitors the better, as far as Im concerned.
