Scarbs has tweeted that there is a rumor that McLaren has a "mechanic" adjustable rear brake duct (body part) that adjusts the air flow to the tire. By adjusting the very hot air from the brakes to the tire you can effect how fast/slow the tire will heat. Movable body parts anyone?

Didnt overheating the rear tyre contribute to Button's puncture?

I have a feeling that McLaren not running their main drivers for this test will impact their season in a bad way.

It goes against the grain and that can have disastrous consequences.

It may seem small and insignificant now, but I have a feeling that a major "what if?" this year will be McLaren's Mugello test and their subsequent lack of upgrades at Barcelona.

They have no major parts to test. Sounds odd.

You may disagree with me but I think it'll be one of those things we talk about in December if McLaren don't win it all this year.

Just a mark my words post is all. :)

Well either they have no updates---and thats bad.
Or they do have updates and are down playing it because they wont let Lewis test them.

Lotus described the conditions as "moist and misty" on Twitter, which will be frustrating for teams wanting to gather meaningful information on updates and better understand the slick Pirelli tyres.

Maybe not a bad decision to have the young guns get a go at it...

Williams and Sauber got new exhausts on the go, apparently so do Ferrari but i can't see much difference on them at the moment.

On the Caterham twitter feed they just said that gonzales (spl) has his own race engineer who is normally Petrovs performance engineer. Never thought about teams trying out other personnel at tests before.

Do the cars have to be race legal in testing?

Nah, it'll be Whitmarsh's fault. He's mastered control of the weather. :hehe:

Webber also praised the Mugello track, which has only played host to private tests - mostly Ferrari's - in the past and has never hosted a Formula One race.

"I have to say this is a fantastic track. It's very challenging for the driver and very quick. I don't know if we'll ever race here in the future, you never know, but to see the crowd here today was very special. A lot of people came to watch and that's great."

True that - would be a cool race track, better than the Spanish borefest...

hmmm Webber buttering up the Tifosi... almost like he wants to get in their good books for some reason.
