Good to see young drivers getting a fairly rare chance to prove themselves in an f1 car.

Maybe Bird will also get some track time.

Pity no Gutierrez for Sauber though. They don't seem to rate him at all, he was passed over for De La Rosa last year as well.

If you're referring to canada, gutierrez was not in the country and couldn't get there in time

Not too sure where to put this, and its probably a bit early for a 2013 Silly Season thread, but there is a rumor, gathering a little momentum that Webber will take Felipe's seat at Ferrari next year.

Now, I never think much of these rumors, although Flav was at Maranello for an extended time last year with no real explanation. Still, I'd put this in the highly unlikely basket.

The same baseless claims were made last year. If Webber feels hard done by at Red Bull (prompting his no. 2 comment) then how's be going to manage as Alonso's lap-dog?!

Briatore used to be Alonso's manager but when Flabio was banned from all involvement in F1; Alonso had to find another manager, I don't recall Alonso re-signing with Briatore!

I rember part of his punishment for being naughty in 2008 was that he couldn't be involved with any FiA sanctioned form of motorsport but I thought he'd been allowed to remain as manager of his current crop of F1 drivers.

If he is not a manager of any F1 driver then I don't see the connection of Flabio visiting Maranello and Webber possibly joining Ferrari (he was rumoured to be taking over but that was a while ago). Besides, is it not Webber's missus that's his manager?

Webber to Ferrari? Nah, it won't happen.

I have a feeling that McLaren not running their main drivers for this test will impact their season in a bad way.

It goes against the grain and that can have disastrous consequences.

It may seem small and insignificant now, but I have a feeling that a major "what if?" this year will be McLaren's Mugello test and their subsequent lack of upgrades at Barcelona.

They have no major parts to test. Sounds odd.

You may disagree with me but I think it'll be one of those things we talk about in December if McLaren don't win it all this year.

Just a mark my words post is all.

Doubt it. With no major changes to the car both drivers shouldn't really suffer.

It's a smart move. Let the race drivers rest and give the reserve drivers some much needed and valuable time in the car.

The car is the best in the field. Unless Red Bull, Ferrari and Merc make a giant leap it'll still be the best car in the field come the Spanish GP. McLarens major update is rumoured to be a new rear end which will take a while to appear.

Scarbs has tweeted that there is a rumor that McLaren has a "mechanic" adjustable rear brake duct (body part) that adjusts the air flow to the tire. By adjusting the very hot air from the brakes to the tire you can effect how fast/slow the tire will heat. Movable body parts anyone?
