I know a little bit courtesy of my daughter. She did a marketing conference thing at Williams factory last week(I got a Tshirt :D ) and they got a tour and some talk about Frank. Its probably stuff you all know.

When he had his accident he was abroad and not likely to live, friends phoned home and contacted F1 people and an F1 doctor arranged to get him home,he wouldnt have made it otherwise.
He's the longest surviving person with his injuries/condition.

During physio when recovering he asked."Will I be able to walk again?"
The answer was "No but you may get some feeling"
His reply "Ok lets pack this up and get back to work"

Apologies if I or she got any of that a bit wrong, I'll see if she's got any more.

Legend guy. Huge admiration

From the bits and pieces I have read over the years, I can put the following together but if any is wrong please correct:

Frank was in a Ford Sierra in I think 1986, on the road exiting Paul Ricard after some testing or some such activity. I can't remember if he was driving, but that is where the accident happened. It flipped I think. Nigel Mansell was in the car behind and witnessed it all. Nigel is very well versed and experienced in first aid and I'm sure this was key in Frank's survival.
Nigel was always keen to help in that way. He has done so for a complete stranger after seeing an accident on a public roadway.
I also recall Frank winning a foot race on an F1 track on a race weekend. Apparently it was somwhat common to hold these foot races at race weekends, participated in by the drivers and whomever else in the paddock who dared. Probably not the only time he won. Seems he was quite fit and a superior athelete in addition to being just about the top of his field in team proprietorship.

There is some info on him in this documentary I just watched
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5WP-IqICI8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkY_EeHwlcQ

He was driving and Peter Windsor was the passenger.

I would love to see a full documentary or book about his life.. It would be a great inspirational story. I know now a days he just looks like an old man in a wheel chair, but he contributed alot to the history of F1. Hes kinda like Professor Xavier and the team is the Xmen lol

I'd buy that! Look at Maldanado and his rage issues, would make a good Wolverine.
