Worst thread ever. HRT have just as much right to be in F1 as Ferrari/McLaren/Red Bull. Don't be such a f***ing supremist. Did you ever think they might be in F1 because they enjoy it? Because they have fun getting their on the grid? Because they take pride in building an F1 car and seeing it on the track? Piss off mate.

HRT 4 LYFE.

I second that, they have as much right to be there as the front runners, at least they don't bitch as much as Ferrari!!

Improvement in terms of general time gap to the cars in front, i have thought that would be obvious

It's obvious, I understand, but how has that relative time gap to the cars in front helped them to date? As I said, the way to measure progress is through beating a team on points or places and that's where the money is at. Perhaps that time gained had to do more with the designs they improperly acquired from SFI than from anything else.

It disappoints me to see that for the past couple of races both drivers and team principal of HRT have said the same thing.

"Both cars finished today so we achieved our objective. We look forward to the next race."

I'm sorry but there doesn't seem to be any motivation to improve beyond "Our cars finished."

How about aiming to finish in front of the Virgins? Or bridging that 2 second gap to Pic?

What I want to start seeing from HRT is comments like "It was a disappointing result today to not have finished closer to the Virgins."

They should not be in Formula One if there is no desire to improve!

I just think that HRT are being realistic, right now they have the smallest budget by far and you do have to finish races to score points, like in previous years, I expect HRT to move forward as the season progresses. HRT always start on the back foot, the first race of the past two season, they didn't even make it to the grid!

I love how the Vettel fanboys are hating on HRT now just because of Vettel's cockup in Malaysia.

Glock had some issues during qualis...
Btw, I said it long time ago, if you're not there to compete, than what's the purpose?

"You guys"? I really don't know what are you speaking of. Even long before this last incident, I was speaking against HRT.

By "you guys" I mean all "you guy" moaning about HRT. This includes you. I don't care if it's now or two months ago. My joke response still stands. they compete just to annoy you.......

I would like to hear them being more ambitious and wanting to beat Marussia, but, for HRT they're really only on their third race after the disaster that was Australia. I'm sure they will be battling Marussia a lot more around mid-season.

I've already said this 3/4 times but I'll say it again. I am completely in favour of HRT being in Formula 1.

Oh, well done to Caterham this weekend! Petrov was battling Vergne I think it was for most of the race. It was only in the last 10 laps or so that they began falling back. Good to see them improving. And of course well done to Kovalainen making it through to Q2 - even if Schumacher did have a problem.

I agree, having smaller independent teams is something that has always been part of F1, some of us older followers will remember teams like Minardi and Forti, the yellow Forti were basically mobile chicanes, getting lapped 10+ times during some races, HRT are nowhere near as bad as that, bottom line is that the drivers that earn multi-millions every season should be able to drive around slower cars without crashing into them, HRT have every right to be on the grid as much as Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren!

Pedro De La Rosa in FP2 less than 4.4 seconds off quickest time, and ahead of one of the Marussia's... Within a second of the Caterham's too. As predicted, they have improved, and not yet at the first European round when they'll likely improve again. I'm going to stick my neck out and predict that they'll be finishing ahead of Marussia again in the WCC this year. Certainly they are not the disgrace that some seem to have suggested previously in spite of their usual pre-season problems...

As I said before, HRT have NEVER finished last in the WCC! 8-)

They havn't even been close to scoring any points though have they? Neither has Virgin/Marussia. At least Lotus/Caterham are moving forward.

This year, neither has Massa nor Rosberg in markedly better machinery.

And? They are regular points scorers throughout a year. HRT and Virgin/Masrussia have not improved since they entered F1 and are constantly at the back - Lotus/Caterham are improving fast compared with these 2. They even struggle to have a car ready for the first race!

These new teams should be given 3 seasons to prove their worthy of a place in F1 and then be chucked out if they are still not improving.

Until Caterham beat a Toro Rosso or Sauber or Williams or Sahara Force India in the WCC, they've done absolutely NO improvement since they began so I'm not sure what standards of measurement you're using to come up with that opinion. I respect your opinion, but it's just that an opinion, my opinion is otherwise.

And I agree with your opinion. I see no giant leaps from Caterham.
