with all this spying and hefty fines etc i was thinking that a fine like that would ruin some teams maybe for good

so i was wondering if your team left by whatever means would you stop watching

personally i think i would, id probably watch the more interesting races like spa, but not a chance id watch a dry hungarian gp for example

your thoughts

I enjoy the ethos of Formula One: the tactics, technology, the lot really; so I would carry on watching the sport, but as a McLaren fan there can be no doubt that the team not being involved would mean it lacked something for me. That would appeal to other teams as well, for the sport needs Ferrari, Williams and the such like.

id just loose the desire to see someone win if renault left, i was so excited when it became renault works, made it much more exciting for me to watch, and now alonsos back its even better, (as long as thers no repeat of last year!)

i think thats why people find it boring cause they have no attachment, and with all the 'politics' (loosely used) around itd be hard for me to get enthusiastic,

right now qualifying is more important than the race it seems, i think id switch to watching touring car or something where its fun to watch without supportung someone

I do not have a particullar team that I support so I would not stop watching, but, the way the sport is currently managed (FIA) is a real concern to me and F1 is being damaged as a sport. Commercially it is doing well because more and more people are watching, especially from the middle east. As in any sport , most 'fans' have only a very basic understanding of how it works ,so the performance of the FIA is not an issues - its just about glamour and celebrity to them. Its the informed fans and the teams that suffer.

So you support your favorite team more than your favorite driver and if you were to loose both you would not be a F1 fan anymore?

F1 is more about being the pinnacle of motorsport's. If Ferrari were to call it quit's I would have McLaren to support, if McLaren left I would have William's to support and so on. One must love the sport more than the entity's envolved to show a true allegiance imho.

to a many long to medium term watchers it feels to be going backwards a bit, this season should be better, with tc off etc, hopeful less politics

as much as i like the technical side (and i do which is why id watch over a lower formula) i always feel its a team effort that is required for a car to win, which i like, and its why i support a team rather than a driver/nationality

but the actual viewing of seeing a car go around another when the line is against him just doesnt happen enough anymore, but it is special when it happens,

(there are also wet races!)

That's interesting, as I said before, I have no particular team to support, I suppose that, if I support anyone, its British teams and drivers, but that's just because I'm British.
I love to watch the tactics & strategies unfolding, that's the big difference between F1 and other motor sport - the amount of tactical / strategic decisions a team has to make to win the race, or even to improve. I am as interested in what is happening lower down the field as at the front.
I have no real Attachment to any team or driver but love the sport.

I love F1 for what it is, not for who is in it. I am sure if the works teams leave and I am sure they will (apart from Ferrari) that other people will replace them. Look at Ford/Jag they have been replaced by redbull. Life goes on

al4x,
It's a shame you missed the glory day's of F1 as I missed the pre-'83 on era but I have watched numerous video's of the pre-'83 era which I think you would love to see also. When you have had a chance to watch and piece together the complete history of F1 I think you will understand that Renault is just one of the many great contributor's to F1 as a whole.

If you are a TRUE F1 fan you will have many driver's and team's you support no matter what is happening. Viva la F1 !!!!!
