Commentator said the attendance is around 150.

Five minutes into the session, there were only 58 people in the grandstand, as personally counted by Ted Kravitz!

:yikes:

How embarrassing!

Even more so when you consider that, due to press coverage, the event is likely to receive plenty of TV coverage

I'm trying to decide whether it's because of the tight security or whether the Bahraini people really don't want F1 in their country!

Looking at the top 12 from FP1; I don't think we can read anything at all into the result; can't see Paul di Resta having genuine pace to qualify third!

The Force Indias went out on soft tyres. The stands just looked completely empty. I would imagine people are too afraid to go there.
I did hear a deabate this morning on five live (from each side of the conflict) and one ststistic that was given was that 70% of people wanted the gp to go ahead. Somehow , not sure how trustworthy that statistic is though.

First practice and we already have 8 cars separated by just a second. Wow.

It is a practice session, it's a Friday in an Islamic nation and there will be virtually no tourists (if any) on the go so it's hardly surprising that there is more or less no one there.
