Bernie Ecclestone's latest proposal is that F1's most important races become a tennis-like 'Grand Slam'. Insisting that the calendar will probably not expand much beyond 20 races, the F1 chief executive also admitted that "circumstances change".

If that's the case, the most important races could be like international tennis' Slams. "Absolutely," Ecclestone told Germany's Auto Motor und Sport. "I'm working on it. And if it gets that far, then there would be more points for the Grand Slam races." (GMM)

Extra points for certain races, :banghead: not a fan. A Grand Prix in the traditional sense is already a grand slam of motor racing. But because we are over saturated with races a grand prix has lost some of its mystique.

No doubt the more the track pays him the more points people can earn, so it is more important so more people will want to attend.

Another POS idea from the deranged old man. Nothing more to be said.

that sounds quite unfair to me, for example a win at Spa or Monaco seems to be regarded as more desirable, simply because they are difficult tracks, and if you give out more points for tracks like these, then that will be unfair for the teams which are not suited for those tracks

Also how will the people who own the tracks that end up being worth less points feel? I would have thought they would be annoyed and angry that their track would be considered less important then other tracks

I just ignore what Bernie says these days, his ideas are getting more idiotic with each year he adds to his age! Are we going to make a return to non-championship races next?

What a terrible idea, I wouldn't mind something like a N. American trophy (as an example) given out if a driver won all races there but the points value of each and every race should always be the same, anything else would just be stupid.

Classic Bernie 'idea' that for me clearly has no intention behind it, he just says stuff like this for another reason imo, exactly what i can't figure out probably just to keep us all talking about F1 or keeping it in the news etc etc.

Can't really pass judgement until more details are released. Doesn't seem the most stupid of ideas.

I guess something has to be done to keep attracting new fans.

I was curious as to what grand slams meant. I don't like the idea. I'd rather have points for fastest lap, and for passes with out the help of pitlane or drs lol.

Bernie's just rambling to himself while he's lost on his way to the Country Kitchen Buffet. (South Park reference.)

Hello what's this? Oh... another wharped idea from Mr Ecclestone. It's best the old guy is not encouraged. This is yet another idea that's too crap to ever become reality.
