yeah, I think Lewis himself is in a far better position to make that judgement. I've got $10 that says he re-signs with McLaren, even if he doesn't win the WDC.

He's on record, very recently, as saying its not just about having the fastest car, its about the whole package. Could just be the start of negotiations of course, we must wait and see.

Don't read too much into radio messages you hear on the air, often they are incomplete and out of time with the actual pictures being seen!

I know the ones on air are out of synch with the TV pictures, but the ones i posted came from the live timing at McLaren, relayed as they happened.

Here's the whole pit dialogue

Now come on.The team sit together on the pitwall and make decisions. Those lines of transcript are direct from McLaren. No I dont know why they did it, you're right there, but I can hazzard a guess.

So you're telling me Martin Whitmarsh heard Lewis say he was ready for inters, then told Jenson's engineer to pit Jenson?

Well one would hope not. But following Lewis comment that its ok for inters Jenson is pitted.....from second place.

Dammit woman, if you're a Lewis fan, you should be going crazy over the fact that he's got the best car under him he's had in years and the best opportunity to win a WDC also in years, perhaps the "maturity" gained will help.

McLaren F'ed up, is there something insidious going on? I don't believe so and it would be hard to prove otherwise.

When he wins a few races this year I can't wait to hear these idiot conspiracists excuses then.

The lap times show Lewis was faster than Alonso (though not as fast as Perez.) And I still dont understand why McLaren asked Jenson to pit before Lewis...giving him the lead. What happened to the lead driver gets the first stop policy?

Did they ask him to pit? I didn't hear any radio communication between them so I don't know. I would expect that Jenson made the call to come in, but if McLaren called him in first then I'd be like

No McLaren made the call for Jenson, 2nd and 3rd ones anyway. The first one Jenson called after they told him others were pitting for full wets. They didnt tell lewis that they just asked him what conditions were like.

Second stop Lewis confirms its ok for inters and they ask Jenson to pit!!
Here are the transcripts

Pit: "Ferrari in."
Pit » HAM: "Can we have an update on the conditions? How are the tyres?"
Hamilton: "The rain is getting heavier, but it's okay. The car is aquaplaning in places, but it's okay."

Button: "Box this lap."
Jenson pits for full wets. [Lap 4]
Hamilton: "I'm starting to aquaplane."
Pit » HAM: "Jenson has just pitted, but the Red Bulls are still on inters."
Pit » HAM: "Other cars are going faster on full wets. We think we should box this lap. Please confirm."
Hamilton: "Okay, box this lap."
[Lap 5]

Pit » HAM: "Some cars might come in for inters quite soon. What are your thoughts?"
Hamilton: "It's slightly wetter than when we started the race, but it's probably okay for inters."

Pit » BUT: "Box this lap for inters!" [Lap 13]
Pit » HAM: "About 5 cars have stopped for inters, including Jenson. Keep us informed of conditions."
Hamilton: "It's good for inters. Box this lap."
[Lap 14]

Pit » HAM: "We still think there could be more rain to come. We want to keep going on these tyres."
Button: "These tyres will be no good if it rains."
Pit » BUT: "Okay. Some cars have switched to slick tyres and they are quicker. We think it's ready for slicks."
Pit » BUT: "Box this lap. Slick tyres."
Button: "How long until the rain?"
Pit » BUT: "We can't be sure, Jenson. We think this is the right thing to do."
Pit: "Jenson is pitlane entry now."
[Lap 39]
The guys on slicks are now 5s per lap faster than those on intermediates...
Pit » HAM: "Lewis, we need to box this lap. ALO has pitted for dries, as have the cars behind."
Hamilton: "Box this lap okay."
[Lap 41]

OK, now that I've actually had a chance to look at the transcript, let me fill in a line you purposefully left out (in bold italics). A bit disingenuous, don't you think?

LMAO. As i already said it's not even like that's the full transcript anyway, there's loads more radio traffic than that, none of which is in that small transcript 'excerpt' they posted on their site.

The bit in italics? You mean the bit where the pit are TELLING Jenson what's happenning? Just before they ASK Lewis whats happenning?

That pit wall conversation looks pretty damn comprehensive to me. And if they did have time to edit it during a busy race one wonders what they might have missd out. Why would they edit it?
#297429
I think all these radio messages are very convoluted, each driver has his own engineer, this seems to be an amalgamation of radio messages from both drivers & engineers, which may not necessarily flow like what actually happened. I firmly believe there is no conspiracy, take anything you read on the Internet with a pinch of salt, none of us can comment really as we weren't party the hearing the radio messages first hand! I'm sure that if Lewis feels hard done by, he would have spoken out by now!
#297433

Does that mean we can say that there's a conspiracy against Button? They let him get comfortable in thinking he's the lead driver and then whamoo, the screw him over.
#297454
I want all radio chatter banned :banghead:
BACK TO THE PITWALL SIGNS
like in the olden days - that'll grow some chest hair on some of these baby drivers

I agree. Much better!!

 Like he did once or twice last year when the chips were down.

Maybe he has.

Whoever removed those ridiculous chest hair posts from this thread......thank you. :irked:
