Vettel comments about cucumbers show him in a very poor light.

I just saw this:

(01:09 to 01:16)

What an arse..., especially on account of it being Vettel's fault as near as I can tell from where I sit. From my sofa it appears as though Vettel had simply moved over into him, so I guess Vettel's right in that there is an idiot driving there; he's driving for Red Bull.

Congratulations to Alonso, they should doc Massa's salary today and give it to Alonso as a bonus. He drove a fantastic race, they got the car set up right for the changeable conditions and the ugly car didn't look so ugly today. :hehe: Take note folks the most ardent McLaren fans are congratulating Alonso. Sadly it's a courtesy that's not often repaid.

A point I'd like to make though that hasn't been discussed is Hamilton is driving smoothly and consistently and although two wins have eluded him, he's doing what he said he'd do. So far it's outscored all others but Alonso. Given the fact that Button and Vettel both had aggressive passes that went awry that were both their falts... imagine had Lewis Hamilton done either of those, the usual peanut gallery asking for his head. Imagine had like Button or Vettel he'd not received a penalty? So let's please cut the hypocrisy out.

McLaren cost Lewis perhaps 10 seconds in the pit today and it's obvious that the car setup was not ideal for changeable conditions, so he drove today the race Jenson hangs his hat on, so for that bit of growth and maturity I give him props for what's he's delivered so far this year. The wins will come, the McLaren team has just have to stop acting like a mid field team when it comes to pit stops and some strategic calls.

Vettel today showed all the grace of the playground kid that takes his ball and goes home when things don't go his way. Classy interview ^^.

Finally, I'm sure everyone but Ferrari fans were pulling for Perez, Alonso deserved the win, but Perez's performance today was spectacular!

Watching that clip above it's clear that Vettel treats Kart like he's not even there. He doesn't turn into the front wing, he doesn't move the stearing wheel once he's passed. He makes no allowance for the fact that Kart's just had an incident before the corner and might not be 100% aware of what's going on. Hubris, plain and simple.

Exciting race despite a less favourable result. Ferrari and Alonso got a surprise win but without the rain I doubt they'd have won.

Schumacher seems to have no luck at all so far this season. Grosjean made another horlicks of things again. Disappointing for Lotus as the car is pretty good.

As for the incident between Vettel and Karthikeyan, it has to be a racing incident at best but the powers that be have handed Karthikeyan a 20 second penalty and he is kind of taking the blame for the incident (source). To be fair, there were faults on both sides. Vettel clearly thought he was past but Karthikeyan was being lapped so should have been right out of the way. Perhaps he didn't realise that Vettel was that close behind and he was on the white line which would have been slippery so was moving to get off of it. Can't blame Vettel for being a bit upset. After having 2 seasons that can only be described as phenonemal, he's having a season that has started really badly. Bit of a come down but these things happen.

Red Bull's pit calls at the end were odd - pit, no don't pit, STOP THE CAR!!!!

Button hitting Karthikeyan was a bit odd. Karthikeyan seemed to be taking a wider line and Button probably thought the door was being left open. Again faults on both parts.

Perez was another one who benefitted from the conditions but that shouldn't detract from his fantastic drive. A few more laps and he would have been right behind Alonso. I was really rooting for Perez to catch Alonso and pass him! Hope to see more from Perez as the season goes on.

looking forward to seeing Sergio Perez alongside Alonso at Ferrari in the near future.

I tried staying up late last night to watch the race but fell asleep. .

I just want to echo Horner's point, in modern F1, it is the lapped car's responsibility to ensure the leaders go through, NK's relatively lack of skills have cost the RBR team dearly... JB's accident was totally different from SV's. SV was lapping the HRT while JB was racing the HRT. I agree JB was decent enough to accept the blame, because it was his error. But for SV's event with NK, I find it hard to understand why some bright people would think SV is at fault, maybe they are too involved with supporting their driver in another thread and didn't want to see this incident in a different angle. Anyway, who knows what those 12pts for Red Bull can do at the end of the year. I think, had the HRT become a bit more competitive (ie. Caterham) maybe there are less drivers going to "bully" them. They are 7 seconds off the pace in their 3rd year, it is hard to give them the respect they expect.

I'm agreeing with yamashek's post above, although initially I thought Vettel was at fault. NK did say that he had to move back in and "Vettel was there" so it seem that he accepts responsibility - although harsh.

It is unprofessional of Vettel to label him an idiot though, and I do hope to see an apology from Vettel in the next few days. He was heated up in the moment.

I did not see Button's incident so cannot comment on that.

wait a sec... how was any of that Karthikeyan's fault? Jenson f'ed up the turn and couldn't stop. Said so himself. And it's not like there was a blue flag involved. It was for position.

he had to "move back in" because he was out of track! Passing cars need to leave room for the passed cars.

"move back in" for what? he isn't racing anyone around him... the blue flagged car has the responsibility to get out of the way, fully.

from the replay, it seems NK has more room to his left.

Its funny that when certain other drivers have collisions the sentence "(insert name here) cant just make their car disappear" is the argument for why its the overtakers fault, yet when vettel quit clearly makes a mistake and doesn't give NK room than NK is supposed to just make his car vanish into thin air? or maybe he was supposed to run his car off the track and crash it?

It was Vettel after all right so NK shouldn't have even been on the track he should have just turned his car into the nearest wall and ended his race when he saw Vettel coming.

Seriously watch the race again and you will see NK made a mistake and went wide and if he hadn't tried to get back on the track he would have crashed the car especially considering how wet the track was, Vettel made the mistake of not realizing he wasn't fully past the HRT and so they touched, 100% racing incident.
