I am missing the BBC Red Button Forum...

seems like Martin Brundle has a lot of quality question for every interview, and just kept on getting butted by that Simon and Damon Hill.

Though Sky still kind of fall short to BBC's overall show, but they can improve by letting MB ask all the questions and Damon to add on to that. As for the Simon, he should seriously watch some BBC F1 shows and see what Jake does.

Yao Ming is here :hehe: About that, completely awkward for me either,RTL kept advertising all the time, the Turkish channel was better. And I didn't understand anything of course, and they didn't show the only English thing,or I missed it,the press conference.

I could only get to watch it after 38th lap.Maldonado did a great job despite the thoughts that he is there thanks to the sponsors. What a bad luck, though.Kobayashi vs Rosberg battle was quite great,Kobayashi did his best there.

Appearently,Jenson deserves the first place but I am sad that Lewis couldn't win,it would mean much to him.

There's an easy fix to this....why not the very next lap the SC comes around to the main straight, the whole field keeps to their left/right while the backmarkers slot out and race ahead? The front runners will be reminded, so that they do not weave around and we get rid of the backmarkers all in 1 go.

They could always have them do a run through the pit lane the next time the pack passes (even hold them at the end if necessary) and that would be a safer option, I guess.

It's about the show... less about fairness.

I guess that's where we fundamentally disagree. I'd say it's about finding the best driver+car. The "show" comes from that.

If you want to apply 'fairness' into a season as a whole, Jacques Villenueve, Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button and Kimi Raikkonen won't be Champions now. :hehe:

Pretty crazy statement, but do the 'alternative WDC season' for each of the years these drivers became WDCs and you see why.

So who cares about fairness? We want to be thrilled during a GP, and the SC is a key ingredient for it.

Speak for yourself. Not ALL of us want to "be thrilled" at the expense of drivers finishing in the position they deserve to be in.

There was so few lapping today, did you guys notice that?

on the same token, HRT was not in the race...

so few lapping VS. HRT not racing..

every time the leaders pass the HRT last year, i cringed a little

I'm very pleased with the result today! Great result for McLaren, and a great race in general! I'll discuss this more in depth later, when I have more time

Just watched this on the BBC and loved every minute! It was a fantastic, exciting and interesting race - and I'm glad to say BBC's coverage is as good as it was last year :)

And above all of that JB won!!! I'll be collecting my winnings from the bookies tomorrow

Very well done to JB. He made a very good start and the rest was a piece of piss.
Lewis will be a major force this year though. I have no doubt about that.

Interesting how well Red Bull did and Alonso's got to be happy after yesterday. Kimi was brilliant imo.

Agree, the BBC coverage was very good and also looked great on BBC1 HD. :D

Great start to the season!

Sauber did excellently, really strong race pace, Perez was even able to hold up the leaders on old tyres for a little bit. Surely not all their qualifying sessions will be as bad either.

Lotus appear to have pretty decent pace, but didn't really get to see Kimi in free air, pity about Grosjean, he still looked happy though, but Bouiller wasn't.

Alonso, does what Alonso does best. Consistency whatever the circumstances and it usually sees him gaining an advantage over comparable cars. Ferrari didn't look too bad on heavy fuel, they just have to sort out the handling issues for qualifying, and get it to keep its tyres better. If the car looks to be getting race wins, they'll do away with Massa I think.

Redbull were fairly strong, really unlucky for Webber, he finished well but that was a poor start once again.

Button was very strong of course, not a lot to be said really, it's all there just from watching the race.

Hamilton had some bad luck, but you also manipulate the odds, if he had been tighter to Button for the first stop he would've come out ahead of Perez and for the second Vettel was catching him quickly going into the stop which I think is why McLaren pitted him on the same lap as Button. Had he been further ahead, he might have been ahead of Vettel, Vettel might also have passed Hamilton regardless of the safety car through a fast in-lap.

Vettel - had a bit of luck with safety car / other retirements to help drag him up the field - BUT when there he got there he drove well, and did excellent keeping Hamilton at bay. Also good to see him make a little mistake towards the beginning, and going off track - just to prove he isnt the 2nd coming.

How was he lucky with retirements? The only retirement in front of him was Schumacher, who he would have most likely overtaken anyway.

Vettel was coming to 2nd anyway, was faster on those tires.

Totally disagree. He had been close to Hamilton before the SC but just couldnt get close enough and pass LH, even with 2xDRS zones (just as LH couldnt get past SV after the SC).

With a 10+km/h speed deficiency, which of these two options make more sense:
1) Ruin your option tires on a car with primes, who will then simply overtake you again once you have to pit for new rubber early?
2) Save your tires, and when Hamilton pits, put in a couple fast laps to jump him after the pit stop?

The moment Hamilton got the call he needed a few more laps on the tires, Vettel closed on him with tenths-of-a-second laps. He waS just 1.4s behind when Hamilton pitted. Two or three more laps and he would have jumped him in the pits anyway.

All the whining about the safety car

Where was your whining when Button won back tens-of-seconds in Canada last year, with safety cars, race stops and more safety cars? A little convenient bitching going on here.

I think Lewis lost it in the first 5 seconds of the race :( . Regarding the first stop. Lewis was asking to come in, his tyres had gone, but Button was leading so I guess he had to wait till Button had been in, by that time the gap was bigger.
Incidently. The McLarens were underfuelled and from about lap 8 were in severe fuel saving mode :yikes:

Impressed with Vettel, especially his non DRS pass on Rosberg. He was lucky with that safety car though.
Maldonado on Grosjean :banghead::banghead: Payback time on the last lap.

Agree with this...I'm surprised at the huge debate on the role of an SC all of a sudden, just because Boy Wonder was at risk of losing his lead? :bs:

You might not believe this, but this isn't the first time I've brought up the fact that the safety car/red flag rules are dumb.

Well, I'm not going to go through 1,000+ posts to verify that, but you're not the only one ;)
