I think 3 things were key today:

1.) Jenson's great start and getting the lead into turn 1 - something I said was crucial.
2.) Lewis getting stuck behind Perez causing him to drop further back behind Jenson.
3.) The safety car coming out after the McLarens pitted, allowing Vettel to pit under the safety car and take second place from Lewis.

Just as I thought ahead of the race, the Red Bulls weren't to be forgotten and the start order wasn't much like the finishing order. There's no points for qualifying and so much can happen in the race. Just like in a season. The race ended like I expected with Seb performing well and the Red Bulls and McLarens at the front. I think qualifying caused artificial excitement unfortunately.

I'd have loved to have seen Schumi versus Vettel but Schumi retired before the battle could start. Seb made a few passes early on so he can race with the best of them, however, trying to get past Michael is always a challenge and that scrap would've been fascinating!

DRS wasn't amazing again; even if it was in two zones. The second zone helped quite a lot but it might just be the nature of the circuit not allowing for much overtaking and re-overtaking like some other circuits on the calendar.

McLaren have the pace over the Red Bulls - Jenson showed that. Lewis is just (still) too hard on his tyres. Jenson's smooth style is working wonders.

Congratulations to Jenson!! Can't wait for Malaysia in just under a week's time! :)

Good rice for Button.

Maldonado did pretty good, just a bit of bad luck at the end. What happened to Bruno's race? I was rooting for him but he did not fare very good, we know the car has potential.

How the heck did Vettel get 2nd? I went to the bathroom when the safety car came out, and when i got back, he was in 2nd :banghead: lol

man, awesome race. So excited for the rest of this season after the snoozer last year.

Incidentally, I think it's time to do away with this safety car BS. There has to be a better way to resume a race after a pause to retrieve a car. After working the whole race to build leads, the drivers deserve to keep them.

McLarens pitted together, then safety car came out just after and Seb pitted under the safety car - therefore undercutting Lewis. Luck was on Seb's side at that stage of the race.

While I agree w/ your sentiments, I just don't see any alternative that will let the drivers in front keep their lead. Besides, the safety car adds more unpredictability and exitement to the race....

How about reform the grid, take off in timed I intervals of the gap you had before the race was stopped?

No way dude I think the safety car is a must, they just need a better planed strategy to get cars off the track faster, Kov sure did pick a great place to stop didnt he? :banghead:

Pretty exciting race I'd say! Glad to see my two favorite drivers occupying the top two steps of the podium.

Though I'm dissapointed at Mercs overall race performance, bit of bad luck with Schumacher. Also I'm really excited to see Williams up out of the backmarkers, let's hope they stay there.
