Ferrari... I'm smelling a word "disgrace"...

Vlad... with the trouncing Vettel took today, I'd though you'd have had enough humble pie not to be casting stones. Out qualified by Webber.

Ferrari are in a spot of trouble yes, but what about Massa? He's the real disgrace of opening Qualifying, I mean he couldn't even beat his teammate who spun off earlier on. Alonso pushed too hard, as you expect from someone giving that extra...but Massa just seemed to be meowing his way around the track to set a pathetic time.

Kick him out already...bring someone worthwhile for a Ferrari seat.

Ferrari need to work on the car. Changing drivers at this point would be an unnecessary distraction.

Priorities.

This is great! Look's like we'll have a tight championship and no Redbull walkover, although their updates that they brought for the last test didn't work but they brought them to Australia, so I'm sure they'll improve.

I'm not even that upset about Ferrari as the rest of the grid is so shapely. Massa was terrible though, but the drivers starting just ahead of Alonso better watch out, he's going to be mad.

At least this puts the end to the myth Vettel is some kinda super driver, Webber was also able to qualify ahead of him. That should be interesting in the race.

Kimi I think was the real let down, Renault hired him because they knew they were onto a good car and wanted a team leader, heck that's why Kimi joined them. A little too risky by saving it all for one run, but not the end of the world. Let's see what he gets up to coming through the field.

Mercedes look to have a strong car, I think the pressure got to Rosberg a bit and Schumacher is still lacking a bit and this shows up in qualifying but in the race his experience and brains should stand him in very good steed. He might have acted like Mr nice guy durning his comeback, but now's he's got a car competing at the front again I bet he'll be up to his old tricks.

Grosjean is a talented driver, good stuff from him. He had a Kobayashi like demeanour in the press-conference as well, whilst Lewis and Jenson were trying to play it cool.

McLaren look very strong, their drivers should be a major benefit for the constructors championship.

Midfield also looking very tight, 1 Force India, Torro Rrosso and Williams in the top ten.

You really have so much against Vettel and myself, don't you?

Anyway, back to the more important things.

Perez handed gearbox grid penalty

Sergio Perez will drop five places on the grid for Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix after the gearbox was changed on his Sauber following Saturday’s qualifying session.

Perez was unable to complete a timed lap during Q2 because of gearbox problems and thus qualified in 17th. After investigating the issue the team decided to replace the C31’s box. The ensuing penalty means the Mexican will line up in 22nd on the Melbourne grid.

Lotus’s Kimi Raikkonen, Caterham’s Heikki Kovalainen and Vitaly Petrov, and Virgin team mates Timo Glock and Charles Pic all benefit from Perez’s drop down the order.

Now that the cards are on the table.

Ferrari, well, their cards had been on the table throughout the test season.

Lotus Renault is a real contender, but like last year, they started strong and sank like a rock with their in year development. I think their driver pairing is superior this year of course, let's see how that pans our over the season.

Mercedes is going to be fighting for the WCC this year, without a doubt. The only thing that remains to be seen is whether they lose the passive F-duct advantage and with it, their hopes.

Red Bull looks like a drinks company. Curious what the odds at a threepeat are from the bookies now.

The midfiled is going to be a bloodbath this year, whatever excitement we lacked in 2011, it looks like it was invested into the 2012 season.

I think Lotus's real problem last season was the side blowing exhausts, most of their performance gains was based on it, but there wasn't that much room for development.

In 2010, they made good progress throughout the season (due to their rehiring of staff from the title years) and I think they have sold investment for this season.

No Vlad... just that reading through this thread you were reminding everyone of an 8 tenths lead just a short year ago. We don't know what tomorrow brings.

To add to that, also just found out that Seb's KERS was still working, It was only Mark's car that had the no KERS.

McLaren cars closely examined by FIA after quali but now cleared to race. Phew!!

It was a very good/interesting Q. Again, testing proved not much. But the Q was really interesting

The most important is no Red Bull blow out. The rest is to have seen how many midfielders were consistently putting out laps at the strenght of the toppers...

Mercedes is definitely fast. And they have 2 good solid drivers, so expect 2 difficult positions to battle if anyone wants to win races.

The Mclaren car is very good... basically the same story as Mercedes. Except they only have one solid good driver, so Button looks pretty strong for the championship.

Ferrari is simply behind in develpment. But Alonso showed it can still battle for something. The way i see it, there is "something"not working. Once it does it should bring the car up. Not like last yr where the car looked strong... but off the pace.

Jean-eric who???
Romain Grojeans??
WTF nice!

yea lets see the race :)

 Nice one f1ea. I guess it must be tough knowing another year of battling for fourth place is looming for the scuderia.
