Jenson is more sensitive to change so I can see how his feedback might be more helpful if they're tweeking little things and want to know this way or that way. But to "invariably follow Jenson's preference". Hmmm :ranting:

On a brighter note-Nik Hamilton on tele in 5 mins. documentary on BBC1 at 10.30.

Starting right now on BBC1

I dunno if autosports being accurate or not, how they'd know the intricacies of McLarens engineering when it's meant to be highly sensitive information I don't know. Wouldn't be the first or last time journos make "assumptions" for a story.
End of the day like Scotty said Lewis can setup the car how he likes. Besides when ever I've heard the drivers or engineers speak they say they both like the car to do similar things even though their styles aren't the same so setup work would be heading in the same direction both sides of the garage.

But it's almost like you want there to be a conspiracy within McLaren to slow Lewis down racechick all last season and even still now.

Of course I dont want them to slow Lewis down. What a crazy thing to say. I want him to go the fastest he possibly can.

Haven't read all the posts here, but I think I get the gist of the conversation. I'm sure both drivers will get the chance to make their own setup. But, there are setup and structural options available to McLaren. Setup issues, at the most obvious are things like wing adjustments, and each driver can have their own. Structural "setups" might be things like where you might try and utilize downforce. Higher nose gives better options to direct flow for use at the rear, lower nose makes more available up front. This is not something each driver can change, so, if McLaren to follow one drivers choice here, and it didn't suit the other driver, well, there's not much the 2nd driver could do, other than learn to drive that setup.

Having said that, McLaren, like every team, will choose the path that they think gives them the best chance to win.

Thanks Spanky. You explained far more technically then I could ever dream off what was behind the post I made. The bit the driver cannot change, that affects downforce, thats the bit where McLaren invariably follow Button and hope Lewis will manage. Lewis likes oversteer-stiff front loose back. Jenns cant cope with oversteer.

Was really good. Full of admiration for Nik Hamilton and his family. An excellent documentary, watch it if you can. It was Jake Humphries idea to do that documentary, he tweeted about it.

There's a video of Lewis here being interviewed by Jake Humphries and answering fans questions. Things like which is your favourite corner/straight/chicane. Which driver do you spend most time with apart from Button...he answered Alonso :hehe: with a grin on his face.
