Could the exhaust gasses change where they flow depending on the speed of the car?

Yes.

As extreme a difference of either going over the upper surface or going down to the slot as in Buds pic?

Ah, i see what you we getting at in the first place now soz. :hehe: I personally don't know for absolute definite either way. I don't believe such a highly powered, high velocity gas such as that could get sucked down and under the bodywork like that though, even at very high speed. You see that small piece of bodywork in front of the rear wheel? I would suspect that is there to channel the exhaust gas.

Interesting diag and comments from Bud and Beam-Me-Up, a couple of clever brains there :)

I can see how the coanda will assist the flows you have mentioned, I would add though that we are talking about exhaust gases. Therefore extremely hot and, more importantly they will be going through rather explosive expansion.

The higher the speed of the car, the smaller the delta between the exhaust gasses and the ambient air flow. There's no way to really visualize this without a wind tunnel and often times secondary and tertiary effects are important parts of a design. All we have is Newey deciding that he could improve on his design, and on Ferrari's execution perhaps? Which says they're looking for more speed in chunks, not just refinement.

New HRT..

I think this looks lush, not quite as nice as the McLaren, but definitely the second best looking car this season!

It looks like something I can design myself using Pro Engineer.

BTW the McLaren's sidepods look very aggressive indeed from that view. I'm loving it more and more.

I quite like HRT's paintjob, definitely an improvement from last year's car.

edit--ignore I said this. I was confusing it with 2010's... that shows how much attention I paid to them last year :D

Best HRT livery yet. They've got progressively better from the Minardiesque livery of 2010...

Still a distinct lack of sponsors though :(
