I've seen some utterly amazing races at Monaco - it's one of the highlights of the season for me alongside Interlagos and Montreal. Long may it continue!
I just wish soulless tracks like Valencia and Singapore would disappear!

See, this is what I cannot grasp! People who love Monaco, yet hate Singapore?!?! Valencia may by crap, but Singapore is a highly unique event on the calendar, just like Monaco! What's more, you can overtake and fight for position at Singapore, something which hardly occurs as often at Monaco. Look at Robert Kubica's amazing comeback in 2010 around the streets of Singapore. That would've been much more difficult to accomplish around Monaco.

It seems people are blinded by the fact that Monaco is just that bit older and there are a few celebrities milling around.

Singapore is far from soulless.

I don't know why but I think Singapore really is a soulless track. Monaco, trust me when I say I couldn't care less about the celebrities and 'glamour' there (I would when I GO there) but that track is just so tight that you can't help but get nervous!

Singapore in daylight = Valencia as far as I'm concerned.

The quality of racing we've seen at Singapore far outclasses that which we've seen at Valencia, and is more than a match for the quality of racing we've seen at Monaco, in the years they've been on the calendar together.

IMO anyway.

Singapore has some overtaking opportunities unlike Monaco which makes it a better race in my book. However, street circuits are totally outdated for modern F1.

I sorta agree, although i think Singapore does, to it's credit, retain several (what i would call) proper street circuit characteristics. Twisty and gruelling, with several areas that if they catch a guy out he'll just be in the barrier. That's what i love about Monaco, mistakes get well and truly punished, the way it should be. Wet races at Monaco are the absolute best thing F1, in my view.

Valencia is just a total joke, it's not even a true street circuit under any criteria (long, fast sweeping section at the end and all those huge runoff areas? ) just an inbetween circuit with the worst of both worlds.

But yet we get more and more street circuits coming into F1, the latest being NJ in 2013...

Why not see the circuit first?

My response was more a response to Andrew than a response about NJ itself, it maybe great but given the recent street circuits added to the calendar, I am not hopeful!

I'm not filled with joy either at the prospect of another street circuit. They may be visually impressive but the racing is usually pretty poor due to the lack of space.

Give me somewhere like Spa or the A1 Ring any day.

I bet the atmosphere at NJ will be immense though! Having said that, the atmosphere at Valencia is generally VERY good, because of the Alonso support! :hehe:

Monaco rocks. The glamour and celebrities and whatever other bull :censored: does not concern me. Watching the drivers get millimeters away from the wall is what it's all about.

Love Monaco. The occasion is amazing. Few races come close when it comes to heritage, sure, the racing itself isn't the best but it has everything else. A real test for the drivers, y'know.

Singapore i love driving it on F1 on Ps3 its one i look forward to , it might not be the best in real life but could be that weve just been unlucky and havnt had any decent races there yet, i think the night element does add an atmosphere aswell.

But yeh Valencia :bs:
