What sort of movies are you into? Top 5 best of the best. Top 10 if you're a movie buff like I used to be.

Tomorrow, after work I'm already booked and geared for:

Reviews have been raving in, best superhero movie of the decade...best ever since the original, best acting, etcetcetc. This could be a real classic. And if you love it, fret not...a continuation is on the way. :drink:

Definitely looking forward to the new X-Men movie. They should just call it "Magneto - The Best Super-Villain ever!".

A top ten list will take some time to put together. Nice little project for me. I am definitely a movie buff.

Just back from the movie...verdict:

FIRST CLASS.

McAvoy and Fassbander have the perfect 'bromance' in this one. The chemistry, acting all round is top class. Don't miss this one. :clap:

Movies is a difficult one for me, as I tend to get stuck into watching the same ones over and over again. Favourites that stand out include;

* Changeling
* Pan's Labyrinth
* The Lord of the Rings films
* The Harry Potter films
* Kes
* Billy Elliot
* The History Boys
* Any film by Laurel & Hardy

There are others but I can't think at this late hour! :wink:

LOTR trilogy

Darkman
Pan's Labyrinth
The Butterfly Effect (much underrated IMO)
Contact
The Abyss
Any of the recent Batman movies, they are all excellent.
Outland
Dark City (A must see. Starring Kiefer Sutherland, this is a darkly weird and wonderful scifi/fantasy cult epic)
A Night To Remember (Far better than James Cameron's syrupy Titanic)
The Battle Of Britain
Silent Running (Even better than 2001: A Space Odyssey IMO, although it can get a bit cheesy in places).
2001: A Space Odyssey (nuff said)
2010 (A worthy sequel to the above)
Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistlestop Cafe (A thought provoking movie)
The Postman (This Kevin Costner flick got a right panning by the critics but I liked it. The book is way better however)
The Thing (John Carpenter's original)
Phenomenon (Probably Travolta's best movie performance)
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind
Empire Of The Sun (It's a feast for the eyes, if a little harrowing in parts)
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Again, quite a harrowing movie but it gripped me from start to finish)
Independence Day (I know, I know, it will never win any awards for having an intelligent script, but it is a great sci-fi romp none-the-less)
Starship Troopers (Comment as above)
Lovely Bones (Peter Jackson's finest hour IMO. This is a harrowing and challenging film. There is one scene that may have you reaching for the 'off' button but stick with it coz it's worth it).
The Time Traveller's Wife (Just superb)
Frequency (Dennis Quaid at his best)

I do! 8-)

I presume it was taken for granted that we'd all like it.

The Thing (remake or prequel or whatever you want to call it), thought it was pretty good tho not a patch on the original. The CG monsters are no match.
